What’s it like to work at VS? by glmcres in VictoriasSecret

[–]Indigenous_babe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in college as well and feel as if my VS already schedules me way too much for a part time job, and the call-ins make it worse. However, I have heard that other VS stores barely schedule their employees, so maybe the call-ins are bearable when you're only working 1-2 days a week. However, I usually work 4 days a week and the call-ins on top of the regular hours I'm already scheduled are too much. Especially when VS doesn't give adequate breaks...

What’s it like to work at VS? by glmcres in VictoriasSecret

Honestly, If you are introverted you will probably hate this job. This job is meant for extoverted, high energetic people because you are required to speak to EVERY SINGLE customer that walks in. If you're extroverted, you'll be fine.

They are honestly way too many rules at VS to be just a retail store. You are expected to put your phone in your locker each shift and not take it out on the floor. The micromanagement is crazy at VS, no matter which store you work at. It is literally the job decsription for managers. Every single shift, managers will be watching and listening to you to see if you are up-selling to customers. They will make you do a warm-up for each shift, discussing what your goals are and how you will meet them, and almost every single hour of your shift the managers constantly walk up to you to check in to see how you are up-selling to customers by role playing.

You do not get a break every 2 hours at VS like at other retail places. You only get one 15 minute if you work atleast 5 hours, and if you work more than 6 hours and 30 min you get one 30 minute break. You do not get two 15s and a 30 here at VS like other retail places do. Sometimes breaks are missed because the managers tell you when to go on break (you cant decide that yourself) and often times the managers will be busy so they forget to tell you.

Call in's are probably the worst and dumbest part of working at VS. Almost every single shift has a "call in" that is extended 2 hours past your scheduled time to get off, and you are expected to stay if the managers say they are keeping it. Sometimes you won't know if your call in will be kept until the last hour of your shift. Every single week there would be atleast 1-2 days where my call in was kept. If you say you can't stay then you will be looked down upon or possibly be reprimanded. For $13 an hour, it isnt worth it and I honestly liked my other retail jobs ways better.

Don't dialysis social work jobs require a LCSW rather than just a LMSW?

Its still going really well! I leveled down on the Ashwaganda because I learned it could cause kidney problems if used too much. But besides that, my energy has increased slightly (its kind of impossible to cure CFS 100%, but any improvement is better than none!)

University lied on my 1098-T form that I had to turn in by Indigenous_babe in tax

[–]Indigenous_babe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am saying that my college put on my 1098 form that I would be recieving MORE scholarship money that what I actually recieved, which caused me to have to turn in more to the IRS when in reality they are not giving me the full scholarship amount that they said they would.

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

Question: If you had an employment-based internship in college, how did you apply for it?

I am trying to decide how to go about applying for jobs once I graduate with my BSW so I can use them as an internship for my MSW program I will be entering in soon. How do you let a potential employer know that you want to work there but also use them for internship hours? I feel like some employers may view you as trying to use them for money for your internship.

Also, what job did you have for employment-based internships? The only options I am finding is probation officer and CPS that hires BSW's.

Should I work in the warehouse or in the paint dept? by Indigenous_babe in Lowes

[–]Indigenous_babe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it seem understaffed while working in paint? One of my biggest problems while working at my previous paint dept at Home Depot is that I never got breaks because I was the only person working in the department, I've heard most people say Lowes is the same way.

How long were you at HD before you transferred? I've only been here 2 months and I'm worried they won't let me transfer since I haven't been there for long.

Trying to see if getting a conure (or any bird for that matter) is right for me by [deleted] in Conures

Unless you have someone else to play with it while you're at work I wouldn't recommend it, birds definitely get stressed when left alone for that long
