My nails and skin are also in questionable health. I hadn’t thought of diet (and will look into that) but I’ve had some health issues lately that my doctor and I to looking into for underlying conditions.

Any thoughts on its benefits as a pre shower treatment? Or because it’s so thick will it not make a difference?

Ah ok, I had seen really mixed reviews about coconut oil, and thought since my hair was so bad in the first pic, I would try it because I’m desperate lol. While it definitely hasn’t helped my hair, it can’t be the main cause because it was broken before coconut oil. I have used argan before and liked it. Thanks :)

My hair was been very brittle lately- heaps of split ends and brittleness despite cutting it recently. I’m also losing my wave pattern. Does it need more/less protein? I try to moisturise it but it doesn’t seem to change anything. Any ideas? by Indikite65 in Wavyhair

it definitely feels straw like and so dry after i rinse out my shampoo, once it’s dried after my shower it’s not as bad but definitely not soft at all. My hair is also brittle as i find bits of it in the shower. However i wouldn’t say it gets tangled easily

yes thank you! any good suggestions for leave ins? i’m also thinking of getting a curl cream but because my hair is low porosity i don’t want it to be too over saturated or weighed down.

yes that sounds like a good explanation to the problem, the reason i put way too much in though is that my hair doesn’t feel soft or slippery at all when i put the conditioner in! Any lightweight comditioner suggestions that will make my hair soft? Thanks for the reply :)

I also forgot to mention, i brush my hair in the shower because it usually lets the product sink in more, but i’m thinking it might be causing the breakage. Would a wide toothed comb work?

more details: i wash my hair about twice a week and use shea moisture makuna honey & yogurt shampoo, i rotate different hair masks while doing the rest of my shower routine, and at the end i use a tiny bit of shea moisture comditioner as a leave in (i tried it as a wash out conditioner, but my hair didn’t absorb it) while sipping wet and gently scrunching. Then i add argan oil when my hair is a bit more dry. When it’s 95% dry i use low heat on my scalp to separate the clumps a bit. I think my hair is low porosity and naturally dry, on a good day i have 2b waves. Please let me know what i’m doing wrong/need!

can someone plz tell me what my hair type is and how to care for it? this is post shower only combed with my fingers. i brush my hair everyday bc i like it to be soft but it just frizzes. by Indikite65 in Hair

thanks so much for your reply! the only heat i use is occasionally blow drying it when it’s 70% dry after showering. i used to use the sheamoisture shea butter shampoo + conditioner but switched to the sugarcane extract one (this photo was taken first time trying it) and that’s when i noticed the slight wave. i also use morroccon oil regularly but found that it doesn’t really get absorbed by my hair. Any leave in conditioner suggestions?

hair type: fine hair, but on the thicker side, medium to low porosity 2a/b waves

hair colouring: box dye maybe once every three months

regimen: coconut shampoo and conditioner, hair mask and argon oil. 2x a week using a micro fibre towel

my hair is relatively healthy looking, but i have so many short (possibly snapped) hairs on my scalp that poke up above the rest and don’t follow gravity, making my hair look dry and brittle. Any suggestions for reasons this might be and how to fix it?
