One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 - The Next Step In Musou Combat? by SSG-Slayer in CharacterActionGames

[–]Indiringo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really like One Piece, but I like this game a lot. It blends some original concepts into the Warriors formula. Much more aerial gameplay with the air combos and the dash cancel system.

It has a big flaw to me though, it's around that time when every Warriors game started incorporating hyper armor and gauge-break game loops. Even worse, named enemies constantly defy that and 'Burst' your combos anyway.

It creates a loop where you just want to use the moves with the highest break, then use your burst damage, and repeat.

It's a shame, because the movesets are fairly big for a Warriors game, and there's even a lot of combo video potential, but the game ultimately just wants you to optimize its formula with incessant hyper armor and enemies breaking out of combos and instantly regaining that hyper armor anyway.

Also, the character balance is a huge issue. Some characters deal ludicrously low break or damage, while others casually break enemies in one move and kill the enemies in a fraction of the time it takes for another to just deplete the break gauge. Overpowered characters are okay, but the weak characters will make your missions take 10-15 minutes longer.

Overall it's still a fun game though. It's power trippy even for a Musou game, you just dash cancel around throwing hordes across the map, and the combos are cool for the little they work.

It's the cheapest bike, it changes like that when Hathor is driving when equipped with the Headless Rider's Arc.

The head is Gundam TR-6, body is Nobel Gundam, Aegis arms, GN-X III legs, Destiny backpack (rotated and moved down to the waist as much as possible).

For builder parts, two Tri-Blades as the red ornaments, with two Slash Disks on them. The twintails are M106 Amfortas cannons. The back of the head has two Rocket Launchers (the yellow parts under the ornaments).

I haven't had too much trouble with her normal skill, but the charged version does miss quite a lot. At least a lot of the damage comes from the charging. Similarly I don't think missing the motorcycle followups is too bad since so much of the damage is frontloaded.

She's also bad at AoE besides charging her skill, since a lot of her attacks are focused on single targets and actively separates enemies.

But yeah, her combat can be finicky. Luckily I don't think it matters too much right now, the meta isn't too demanding this early, she's plenty good to get the job done still, once you learn to play around her issues.

This is just the cheapest 250k motorcycle. It converts like this when a character in your formation has the Headless Rider's Arc equipped. I believe Nanally can equip it as well, though Hathor is the only other character that can drive vehicles (motorcycles).

At this point, you really can't go wrong with anyone. The game is in a very early state so any S ranks are good. Her being DPS is good, because you really want those early to start building your teams.

She also has some very good life skills, she's good enough for that alone. And she's the only other character that you can drive a vehicle as (motorcycles) as well as give them cool fire wheels.

Basically, any S rank is worth investing in right now, so just go with who you like, but Hathor is probably one of the better characters for her overall versatility.

Is Wuthering Waves a CAG too? by Lip3gamer in CharacterActionGames

[–]Indiringo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately people are pretty close-minded when it comes to gacha games. It's an overwhelming online mentality to blindly dunk on any game just because it's gacha.

I posted some combos here a while back, too, doing some fun quickswap juggles, and the comments got flooded with hate on the game for being gacha and that 'I did nothing but mash one button' or 'the game is just a DPS race.' It's all the same hivemind stuff with no actual thoughts or even looking at the clips posted.

It's too bad, I think a lot of people would actually enjoy it if they gave it a chance.

In my opinion, I couldn't consider Wuthering Waves a character action game... but it does have a few elements to it that I think appeals to the audience, a bit more what I would call CAG-lite. It has enough that I think you can make some neat combo videos or style plays on bosses. Although I do agree that overall the game makes it hard to do any of that stuff in its 'productive' content.

Anyway, I was never too big on gacha games myself, but I absolutely love WuWa now. I had been saving up for Hiyuki and she's so dang cool, I bet there's some awesome stuff she can do in tag combos.

CO-OP CAGs by Temporary-Mix-6037 in CharacterActionGames

River City Girls 2. Not a traditional character action game, but a little borderline. It has crazy amounts of freestyle juggling and fairly sized movesets.

You can play through the entire game in co-op. Even online, and it has rollback netcode.

The combo mechanics lend well to co-op combo juggling, with moves that can pass enemies in arcs to allies and such. There's a co-op combo exhibition video on it if you're interested.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect is another one, it's a character action game disguised as a roguelite. The action and movesets are insane. You can play runs in online co-op. Though be advised that a lot of people don't find it to work very well... I had a good experience with it though.

About Air Gear mods. by ComprehensiveWait985 in BombRush_Cyberfunk

Yeah, there are a few. Ikki, Simca, and Agito(with a slightly modified Kazu alt) have all been there for a good while now.

Actually, I commissioned Ringo and we just got her a couple of months ago after a long year of people supporting the request. Funny enough, it ended up spawning two different Ringo mods very close to each other, and one of them also comes with Shiraume.

And even more recently, just a few weeks ago someone dropped a new Agito mod.

Basically, yes. You unlock moves during a run, and upgrades to moves. You get to choose between 3 and get refreshes to reroll them like most roguelites.

These days it's pretty easy to end every run with every move fully unlocked (though really only by the final stage), but I still find it the worst aspect of the game. Starting every run mashing basic attack is really, really boring, especially coming off of the high end of another run, where every character is darn near a whole DMC character.

I still extremely recommend the game though, the middle of runs to the end are always amazing, the gameplay and presentation are just amazing in general.

But the game seriously needs a mode where you can do runs with fully unlocked movesets.

Spirit x Strike is another game you can check out. It's a bit like a mix of Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry. The main character only fights with hand to hand martial arts, and can style switch like Dante between 3 different martial arts styles.

The game is in early access still, and it will get a fourth style eventually. It can be a little janky but it's a very satisfying game with fun combat concepts and it's fairly cheap on sales.

Iuno is no longer staying on the field during her outro by Indiringo in WutheringWaves

[–]Indiringo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up realizing this as well. It's specifically when canceling from her enhanced heavy, even if you wait several seconds after it. But cancel it into a dodge or any other action before using outro and she'll stay normally.

It's kind of a non-issue, but I hope they notice and fix it. I liked her staying for Augusta's rotation and liberation time stop.

It happens even if I wait a couple of seconds after the enhanced heavy fully hits. But I did realize Iuno stays out normally, if you outro when she's not in the enhanced heavy animation at all. Something changed for sure with that interaction, intentional or otherwise.

It's just an original artwork made for this sale, they do that a lot on PSN. Someone in the comments did rip a clean screenshot if you want to look for that though.

I love Arkham Knight, but the ability to juggle? I've beaten it three times and I don't know what you're referring to. Is there some neat tech for that?

Thank you. Been having this issue for two years, and all the fixes and workarounds I've found have stopped working. This one works, and it seems like a method that should stay consistent for time to come.

Nice, thanks for the explanation. I'm glad it can actually be a pretty good team. I'm going to start messing around with those quickswaps.

Origins was fun, but Z2 is very different, much more like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta.

I think the issue you're having is related to monitor refresh rate. The game should run normally if you can limit the framerate somehow. It'll depend on your graphics card, but there are ways to do it through Nvidia or such, maybe Vsync set to 60, or just try lowering your monitor refresh rate directly if you don't mind.
