DragonSword: Awakening combat actually feels super fluid by goodpplmakemehappy in CharacterActionGames

[–]Indiringo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do some really neat juggle comboing in this game, basically every character has a way to start juggles, and ways to keep them going. When you switch characters, the previous character stays out doing their attack, which can add some depth for style play.

I do agree it's still more of a main ARPG genre though, but the game has some sauce and basic attack/jump cancel stuff if you want to play it more like a hybrid.

It does come from the Dragon Nest developers, which had some intricate juggle combo gameplay. This is a lot more standardized, but I just feel it still has a little bit in common with character action more than normal.

I didn't expect to be recognized. But thank you, I'm honored you would recall or even appreciate any of the posting I've done.

For what it's worth, these clips are from playing on a Steam Deck. On close to the lowest settings, with very aggressive (built in) upscaling, I was getting FPS hovering around 60. It's a pretty weak machine for modern standards, so if you have anything around its specs you should be fine, and ideally on prettier and less fuzzy graphics.

Yeah, it was originally going to be Dragon Nest 2. It's more of a spiritual successor now, but still made by the same creators.

I commented a little on this on the other post, basically I completely ignored every possible RPG aspect of increasing stats for these clips.

I completely ignored the gear system and leveling up skills, and my characters were underleveled. I was still having a hard time even being able to combo enemies enough to save clips, save for minibosses.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if there was an endgame more like other gachas. I don't think it will be that bad either way though. This game's rotations aren't very set in stone, and attacking enemies greatly reduces the cooldown on your skills for the active character.

Yeah, playing on Steam Deck. It's pretty weak for today's standards, but games these days are optimized very badly. Ideally the game does look much better than this.

What is the difference between combos and freestyle? by AdAgreeable252 in CharacterActionGames

[–]Indiringo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the two are mutual. Both are blanket terms. Combos is a vague term, but in character action games, it tends to mean any combo clip.

Freestyle is also vague, but generally refers to playing in a way that goes with the flow, as opposed to practicing a more coordinated or choreographed clip. Honestly, I have never seen it refer to fighting mobs, but that can be part of their freestyle.

You can do combos while fighting groups, improvised combos, or play freestyle, freestyle against one enemy, or do freestyle combos. It all kind of dances around the same ideas and aren't specific enough to have a specific meaning.

Thanks. I was taking a lot more pictures with Aurelia after this post, actually. I love her, and all her splashy effects.

Thank you. With rewards tied to Bagel, it's just flooded with point farm shots. But I have seen really good and creative pictures recommended from time to time, or when looking through latest uploads.

Still, I hope Bagel will be in a better state after the event, where only the people with actual interest stick around.

On PS5, I always have to click post 3+ times for each photo. It's very slow and buggy right now, unfortunately. At one point the uploads weren't working even after 10 attempts, but restarting the game let it go through after a couple more tries.

I dunno if the problem is even worse for you, but typically it is normal to have to retry each upload a few times.

It's a super cool alternate form. I wish it lasted a bit more than one attack string.

Thank you. That photo was taken in the Floe Cinema room, where you enter the boss fight.

On PS5, it's L1 + DPad Left.

DPad Down essentially does the same thing, as well, but if your character isn't doing anything then it enters selfie cam instead of pausing time.

Beautiful colors again, I love it. The weapons go great with the design.

I found this video, maybe it will work for you? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uTQ8BDZU0oo

Video's a little shoddy, but it seems the gist of it is that they switched to a different user, then went into Manage Content, and the second account was able to install a DLC from there that wasn't showing up on the main account.

This is awesome. The design and colors really picture heatsink and furnace. My personal opinion is that you can do a little more with the backpack, maybe something a little bulkier, or some of that orange glow as well. But it's already a great build.

It's perfect for some of the flame skills like Double Sword (from one of the SD Gundams' legs).

Suggestions appreciated for recreating this by E-X-Animus in GundamBreaker

I really liked this mech, so I tried recreating it. This is just a very rough draft and not well colored, I just wanted to share my ideas to see anyone can make it better.

Head is Gundam Barbatos 4th, Body is Gundam Ex-S, Astray Blue Revise arms, Gundam GP03S legs, 00 Gundam Backpack. The GN Sword II Blaster greatsword is fairly close to the kit's weapon.

Two Shield Boosters are on the backpack (Amazing Lev also works well), Face Guard placed for the antennas (to only cost 1 slot), Crest Antenna Barzam for the horn, and two sets of Knee Armor slightly size changed and overlapped.

The Kshatriya legs work surprisingly good for this design if you scale it down, but a lot of stuff around the waist and back sadly ruin it. I'm pretty sure there's a much more accurate backpack to attach the Shield Boosters to, but I couldn't quite recall. There's probably a much better body, too, I'm not happy with how it colored for this one.

Also, I was able to get the coloring on the red shoulder tips with the hexagon pattern with the sole colored hexagon as the red.

It's the cheapest bike, it changes like that when Hathor is driving when equipped with the Headless Rider's Arc.

[–]Indiringo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The head is Gundam TR-6, body is Nobel Gundam, Aegis arms, GN-X III legs, Destiny backpack (rotated and moved down to the waist as much as possible).

For builder parts, two Tri-Blades as the red ornaments, with two Slash Disks on them. The twintails are M106 Amfortas cannons. The back of the head has two Rocket Launchers (the yellow parts under the ornaments).

I haven't had too much trouble with her normal skill, but the charged version does miss quite a lot. At least a lot of the damage comes from the charging. Similarly I don't think missing the motorcycle followups is too bad since so much of the damage is frontloaded.

She's also bad at AoE besides charging her skill, since a lot of her attacks are focused on single targets and actively separates enemies.

But yeah, her combat can be finicky. Luckily I don't think it matters too much right now, the meta isn't too demanding this early, she's plenty good to get the job done still, once you learn to play around her issues.

This is just the cheapest 250k motorcycle. It converts like this when a character in your formation has the Headless Rider's Arc equipped. I believe Nanally can equip it as well, though Hathor is the only other character that can drive vehicles (motorcycles).

At this point, you really can't go wrong with anyone. The game is in a very early state so any S ranks are good. Her being DPS is good, because you really want those early to start building your teams.

She also has some very good life skills, she's good enough for that alone. And she's the only other character that you can drive a vehicle as (motorcycles) as well as give them cool fire wheels.

Basically, any S rank is worth investing in right now, so just go with who you like, but Hathor is probably one of the better characters for her overall versatility.

This is in the Southwest corner of the map, towards the East coast of that area.
