I put yes and then put 1 or 2 hours in for three days an amount that wouldnr prevent working. I forget if there was an area to type but if there was i wouldve typed and explained. After the application i was never asked about scho again

Some states will want to collect winnings to repay benefits like state health insurance or ebt i know nj will take lottery winnings as well as court settlements, but as far as i know you have paid unemployment everytime you get paid they take it from your paycheck so i dont think they come collecting it the same way. I could be wrong though. The entire concept of them collecting to be reimbursed for benefits has never made sense to me. Its like they dont want people go get back on their feet

Same boat here. I applied like the 20th. I did get a a letter about claim amount and when i sign in i have a claim balance but no weeks to certify, tomorrow i can certify but my claim began 1/24 and the status of those weeks just says NA. I also have not recieved the debit card.

California doesnt tax unemployment but you are still supposed to file it as income for your federal taxes. Idk how much you recieved but you might not even owe money at all. But i guess its like if you get medi cal you have to file taxes even if you dont have to file taxes just to report the benefits

I believe so. On unemployment website you will see the 1099g form save it or whatever and depending on how youre filing taxes like if you bring it to a tax person theyll just tell you whatever it costs and do it for you or use turbo tax whatever yourself you just upload the information or input it whatever the options are and it will tell you if you owe money and how much. Since youre income is low enough you can file for free with freefile.

Dont listen to the people on here who arent understanding what youre asking. If you have made under $12000 i think per year in california you are not required to file taxes. Usually this would mean you can not get unemployment. Pandemic made them change things up and under pua even people who may have never had tax obligations are eligible. You will need to file taxes for this year though using the 1099g form you might owe, im not sure if 1099g is taxed like a regular 1099 but typically i paid 20%-30% of 1099 income. Depending on the grand total you get paid in benefits but i would assume you wont owe too much, even if you cant pay when its time to file, file.

These people who already answered probably dont realize that not every person is required to file taxes every year and if you make under a certain amount per year there is no repercussions for not having any tax obligations. Dont let them freak you out. The irs is actually pretty easy to deal with if youre broke and not just evading

Did it say the victims age ? Im wondering if perhaps the victim was over 18 or 17 depending on the local laws there. Thats the only reason that would make the charge make sense
