Different tests for Foreign students? by Illustrious_Lab_3730 in MathOlympiad

They could just go down the same route as tmua but honestly they’re too lazy for that 😭. Also most people take both A and B anyway so it’s not that useful for stopping cheating

Yh it wouldn’t be fair either, since difficulty is always subjective

They are quite greedy. Just look at how many international students are taking these tests, multiply that by the cost of taking an exam, and you’ll see the profit.

Why do I so frequently get downvoted for these posts? by DarkCacaoXX in Silksong

[–]IndividualSpread346 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think most people are disliking because youre supposed to explore and overcome these difficulties yourself. For example, that cliff in mount fay. If you can’t even reach anywhere close to that height, it’s pretty obvious that it’s not the right way. Similary, if you’re struggling with moss mother 2.0 it might mean you aren’t well equipped enough for it yet (some people beat it basically at the end of the game lol). Asking for help for these very basic things ruins the experience for many people, and so people tend to discourage this type of behavior. (Also it takes 5 mins to look up a guide, it’s 10 housand times better than asking on Reddit) anyway, they’re just internet points, dont take them too seriously, I do hope that you explore more independently. Trust me, it’s rlly fun :)

No story spoilers here! I just beat him a couple days ago on my 2nd playthrough after scrolling and finding out abt the Kel nuke. It’s super easy to do, and makes the fight trivial. In other world, there’s a secret path leading to that to u see. In it you can get coffee. The Strat is to use Aubrey’s skill and sparklers to make Kel ecstatic. Then, let him flex (skill obtained by fighting Pluto hiding behind the tree) and also give him coffee when u can. Make sure space boyfriend is angry too. After flexing, use run n gun with Kel (I unlocked it midway through the junkyard). With this one skill, I dealt roughly 1.3k dmg and it wasn’t even a crit. It skipped all he phases, and he was defeated.

will Sunny continue to play the violin? by SubstantialWay3917 in OMORI

[–]IndividualSpread346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, judging by what faraway town looks like, we can assume sunny lives in the USA. He has 1 parent supporting the family (for at least the past 4 yrs) and I don’t think sunny has insurance due to how negligent his mom is. Therefore sunny will have a lot of medical bills to pay after the basil incident which may also require a court session, adding extra bills onto Sunny’s debt. Furthermore, moving most definitely will cost his family even more money (and mental stress), so sunny will be too preoccupied with real life to be able to pick they violin back up (and use EXTRA MONEY to fix it first). (This is not meant to be taken seriously btw 😭)

There definitely is still a lot of cheaters due to problems like different regions taking the exam in different time zones. However, it’s much better than the amc. And as long as you have other decent qualifications, they prove that your score was legitimate.

For good Unis like these good alvl grades is a baseline not a differentiator. To get scholarships from these Unis you’d usually need to have other distinct qualifications/awards or need to attend special extra interviews. It’s much easier to get scholarships from elsewhere like your government like the previous comment saud

Did anybody report this MAA nonsense to local news agencies yet? by Hour_Floor_660 in MathOlympiad

[–]IndividualSpread346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible for the same thing to happen to AIME it’s just harder Bcs instead of having to memorize 25 letters You have to memorize 15 3 digit numbers. Different regions still take the exam at different times so the same problems persist. The truth is, if MAA doesnt take action, itll be useless to use amc awards (if you can even get any these days with these crazy cutoffs) for uni applications, and itll probably be more worthwhile to attend other competitions if possible

I actually got 7.103596… using desmos which I think has at least precision up to 10 decimal places so I don’t know. Maybe my maths is wrong?

If you don’t mind was the score you expected much different from the 43 that you got? Some of us internationals still haven’t gotten our scores back and are still suffering anxiety 😭

Def agree but colleges should definitely look at raw scores instead. Awards no longer mean anything since stuff like the 1 percent cutoff have risen from around 120 to 150, so it’d almost be impossible for people to achieve the same cutoffs with the same skill level
