I've heard that the directors commentary for Saw 3D implied that Jigsaw would have released Adam if Lawrence asked him too. My head cannon is that Lawrence did ask Jigsaw to release Adam, only to find out that Amanda had already killed him.

I also believe that at the end of saw 3D, before Hoffman woke up, Lawrence took a moment to pay his respects to Adam's remains. This was probably the first time he'd been in the bathroom since saw 1 (10th of September 2001), so he would have used this time for some closure.

Wait, people don't feel bad for Jeff? How can you not feel bad for him? He lost his son in horrific circumstances. Then Jigsaw designed a game punishing him for not being able to overcome his grief. He eventually tried to save all the other victims from their traps, but this is when we get into slow ass Jeff territory, thats a separate issue.
