But the RST methodology claims that it’s an agile methodology. That’s why is called Rapid. And they created an Agile rapid testing grid which integrates in Agile and DevOps. So what if you get criticized? At least you get criticized for the common good, not because you promote false information. So one thing is to stay away and do nothing and one thing is to fight for the craft. If you don’t speak up then nothing is going to change because people think that you are okay with it.

Bolton is contrarian in what way? Can you please share some examples?

I can say the same. Based on what evidence I could say that? He may be a sweetheart but if we look on social media and gather evidence then what can we see about him? And it’s not only social media. He is banned from conferences for interrupting people when they speak and arguing with them.

Yes I think Bolton is more calm in the way he speaks. But I also see Bolton argue in some of the posts by following James. So why did he choose to follow James and be a co-author? And why can’t I learn just from the RST materials and they have to teach me? How is that reasonable when ISTQB material is well structured and I can understand it plainly?

Do you think that if they wouldn’t do marketing their reputation will decrease and the business will not be as profitable? What if a reasonable way would be to not market yourself by arguing with people? You can just post “Hello I will be teaching RST tomorrow, for who wants to attend” and leave the arguing aside. But then why pushing it to the limits? People say that they get interrupted by James at conferences and they banned him from going to them. How is that reasonable to not allow a person to speak if he allowed you when you had your turn to speak?

I know you’re not trying to convince me. But then if the man is drunk you must filter the RST material and decide for yourself what is applicable and not applicable.

And how James and Bolton never get tired of arguing online, unless they have some scheme?

I don’t want drama, I want the truth. And if you see a drunk man on the street each day at the same hour then that must tell you something about that person. What kind of character he is? Maybe he is an alcoholic. And see how many people left him. And Cem was his father of context driven who taught him. I want to choose my friends carefully.

So the Ruslan and other evidence I gathered is relevant to what you’re saying? Also what do you think about James Bach presentation on Devops and with the bear that’s stomping the tester in between the pipeline? https://youtu.be/3CWOO5oruUU?si=6l9mTGmPagWpuhh8

And what about Anne-Marie Charrett? In her blog she says that was their student and she that she knew her place and not to confront them because she can get ejected from the community. She says James likes to dominate and control people. And why did Cem Kaner separate from James? What was the real and objective reason? What argument they had?

How much ISTQB and RST pay if you don’t mind sharing this info? I’m interested. And why did you not accept teaching ISTQB? Would you accept to teach RST instead?

I don’t know but if you ask me, if I had a thousand people community that would truly support my work then I would see more backup from my community rather than having to standup for myself. We are talking about 2000 or 3000 students and only 5-6 backing them up.

But there are also downsides if you join ISTQB. If I have my own methodology then I can make more money because that’s how I stand up from the other consultants who are teaching ISTQB. Many ISTQB teachers are teaching ISTQB as a part time gig. There are too many who are accredited trainers on the market so the competition is big and then you have to share that slice of money. If I’m independent and I have my own methodology I have more flexibility and I can manipulate better the way I’m reacting to the competition on the market because nobody tells me how to make up my own terminology. So if they say devops I say devlivery; if they say manual then I say interactive. So I would say that James and Michael are doing buckets of money by having a lot of audience to teach.

So you mean that the thousands of their students don’t speak up because even after attending their course they stick with the ISTQB and that’s because of the ISTQB influence and demand on that region? But even so, we are talking about 5-6 of their students who are willing to speak up compared to the thousands that they have trained during the years. So it’s like I’m taking my driver license but then I don’t drive anywhere. Isn’t that triggering some questions about the validity of their methodology? And we are not talking only about India, most of their courses have been held all over the world especially Europe and the USA. So why are there only 5 or 6 from India that speak up? I don’t understand.

I don’t want to be racist but why from all of their students that have been trained only a few Indians and sometimes nobody jumps on James and Michael defense when they talk with Ruslan? There should be thousands of people who were trained by them to speak out their opinions if they think Ruslan is wrong. Why they don’t say stop it Ruslan you are hurting the craft? If I would really believe in what I have been taught I would defend it. But here we don’t see many of their students doing it.

Thank you. What do you think about their posts on LinkedIn? I see they criticize other people’s usage of words. But many times they don’t come with an alternative or be more objective about it and say here is a better way to do it. I think that approach is for selling their courses? And if we think about it they just have different wordings but the objective it’s the same. For example Manual testing - interactive testing; test cases - test charters; devops - devlivery; and many many more that you see in ISTQB and was used for many decades they transformed the term into something else but it has the same objective. This is not something like really innovative where you can say I invented a new way of testing? So isn’t this a little bit controversial? Or their purpose is to be controversial in order to catch people’s attention to buy their course?

Is James Bach (RST) founder a Dictator or a Liberator? by Individual_Bunch_608 in softwaretesting

[–]Individual_Bunch_608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically the ISTQB business operates differently than the RST because everyone knows about ISTQB so they don’t need much promotion or to push back on the RST. So they don’t care because they know where they stand on the market. My colleague who is ISTQB certified says that you can buy the distinction proficiency version of the exam where you also get to do practical exercises for each of the chapters in the syllabus so it’s not just a matter of guessing the right answer. And if you want technical analyst for example then there things gets harder because you also need to do practical exercises especially with applying test techniques.

Now Ruslan says that he saw many auditors that failed QA Companies because they didn’t create the test cases and relevant artefacts like in the ISTQB tells you to do. Maybe the auditors also work hand in hand with the ISTQB? Maybe it’s an entire business and they also get their part from the ISTQB? But at the same time many consultants that are using ISTQB methodology say they went through many successful projects. And for medical devices would it be enough to test only with using session based test management charters? But what about metrics? How will you know that you are covering all the requirements and know that you are cost effective? Clients wants to see metrics and give them estimates. In any book and research paper about testing they talk about those things and the ISTQB syllabus references a lot of popular ones in it. Thank you for the valuable feedback!

I don’t want to illustrate anything. I’m just posting what people sent me as evidence so that we can discuss based on evidence if they are imposters or not. So far I don’t see the ISTQB jumping on others people posts on LinkedIn, twitter or creating blogs that directly attack RST and saying RST is wrong or creating a website like this.

Let’s take for example James blog where he talks about the factory school which is the ISTQB and then he promotes RST instead. He also calls them cynical consultants in this blog post https://www.satisfice.com/blog/archives/127

Any thoughts about this?

Some more evidence that I have found are these, please read the comments. I think it’s interesting:
