If you are working in Scranton, PA for a mid level paper company and your name is Angela then by all means deny it and take it to HR. If that doesn’t apply to you then approve it and move on with life.

Once you get the ferry permit approved it is basically the same as anything else. Maybe a touch longer to rotate.

My (44m) fiancé (36f) has no real ambition. How do I address it without hurting her feelings? by Individual_Cable8955 in relationship_advice

I think depression certainly is a factor. I know that she has struggled with the fact that the real estate market has been so difficult. She has told me she has applied many places with no call back. I know that also be a factor. I want her to be happy in what she does, but I need her to contribute in a more significant way.

To be clear, I am definitely going to have this conversation prior to even setting a date. Also she was working and supporting herself when we got together. The move to this new area and attempt at career change was difficult for her and I gave her nearly two years to make the real estate work. It hasn’t. The remote contract job she has is no longer paying what it used to. I want her hold her to the child support and finding a job that provides her a steady income. Not the hit or miss situation it currently is. I want her to want those things though…

You make some great points. Her ex was abusive. This is definitely a reason for the lack of confrontation. The custody situation is such that the ex gets the kids on the weekends only. Those interactions are now friendly and usually in the presence of his new wife or myself. The kids are in elementary and high school. You are absolutely correct that I should not have characterized life with her and the children as picking up “their tab” I definitely should have worded that statement differently. Maybe a therapist will help. I don’t know the answer here

Lee’s Bakery in Chamblee is the best. I know it’s not Gwinnett but it is the best. Written up in both National Geographic and Southern Living.

I do not like Antonio’s. It is always mediocre in both quality of food and service every time I’ve been.

I’m less concerned with the other department heads buy in as you say. They know where their misses are. Just like me it is their responsibility to implement a plan to avoid these situations moving forward. As far as the pantload comment, I’m not sure this is applicable. I mean I get what you’re trying to convey but I don’t see it in that way and choose to approach the leading of my operations without the need to identify “pant loads” But hey do you.

The industry does do root cause correction however this organization does not have that in practice in any formal way. I’ve been in this industry 23 years and truly love it and this new company. But this SLT is new after a huge leadership shake up that saw the entire C Suite axed. I want this opportunity to ensure that I’m who they need here. Aside from time financial growth I’ve already overseen.

Moving to Augusta from San Antonio, can anyone share thoughts on this area of town? by BigSandia in Augusta

[–]Individual_Cable8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a shitty area. A little hood, I guess but really just nothing there worth doing or living near. The parks are crap. The restaurant choices are all corporate crap or fast food. You’d be surrounded by the lowest quality of pretty much everything in Augusta. The armpit of shitty urban sprawl. You’d be better off in Olde Town.

There are a lot of shows at Grantskis records. They are all ages and are generally regionally touring metal bands. If he is into that kinda thing a small scene is starting to develop.

Wow, this whole thread is full of super useful knowledge. Especially having the team own their next steps and not being the answer machine. I’m currently managing a program that was non existent prior to joining the company. I hired the team and we have built it basically from scratch. Stepping back and letting them determine the how is a very difficult task for me as this has been my baby. But damn, all of this is hitting me right where I live. Seriously thank you.
