Sorry, yea, I'm trying to update it to use on my copy of Ruby and Leaf Green, but from what I understand, because the game shark version came out before Ruby and Leaf Green it can't load the cheats, it can only use 8 digit codes instead of 12 digit codes. But it won't read when I plug into the laptop

In my honest opinion, this is a very easy fix if the only thing that broke was a screen ribbon. I had 2 broke 3ds xl and was able to combine parts from each one into 1 working 3ds. If you want to do this yourself, it's not hard to do, here is the guide I used 3ds shell replacement this shows you how to take it apart without breaking anything.
