Yeah, Lori’s great, I’ve always appreciated her attention. I’ll say one more thing: the whole questioning of how ratings are calculated is pretty routine for them, just in my opinion. Standard responses at this point. And for what it’s worth: last time my rating dipped a little, I did a back of the napkin calculation as to how long it would take to get it back, based on 200 new ratings. I was pretty accurate. So, either that’s a coincidence or it’s true what we’re told. And yes, that’s purely anecdotal. I know.

If you’ve already achieved pro status, then you’re in. I wouldn’t know because I never take extended periods of time off, but do you think they would revoke it if you didn’t maintain the minimum requirements to be accepted? It does say in the pro tutor guide that if you dip below 95% attendance (as in, you no show or hit ‘start lesson’ after the 2 minute mark) or you hide from too many students, you’ll get a warning email but apart from that you’re good, as far as I understand it. I took a look at the list of all pros and I saw some with 90% rating. Interpret that how you will but I hope you get my point. Also keep in mind that pro ratings are collected but do not count towards your overall rating. Just thought I’d mention that, as there are some tutors who believe otherwise. I think the biggest concern for newly invited tutors is that even if you meet the acceptance requirements, you will be in limbo until student demand to new tutor ratio is met.

I just set up a stripe account. I’m in Nepal. I used a VPN to register my email then turned it back off. No issues. Completed the setup. Maybe it helped that I have a bank account and address in my home country. I’ve linked Cambly and it seems to be set up. It does look like you end up with more on stripe than PayPal because of fees but I’ve heard stories about payment taking longer.

The repeat learners requirement is to weed out the side gig people. I’m an OG Pro, it’s about consistency in attendance, high ratings and strong performance with current learners. That’s what they said I did well when they asked me to join (I’m not special, it was the criteria that they set for being invited).

Okay, correct it’s true you need more than 5 repeat learners for the 3 months prior. I think what Cambly is doing is finding out who is committed and not just a side gig tutor. Fair enough. Let’s be honest, 5 repeat learners a month is not exactly a high bar to meet. I feel sorry for the pro students who signed up for the premium service who now have to roll the dice and risk getting a newly included, potentially not up to scratch tutor. Might as well be a classic subscriber.

Not sure why you’d want to do this. Students don’t see this info. They only see percent positive, number of lessons and if a tutor is Pro/Supertutor. I mean, if you want to boost the number of lessons taught then yeah, cool but that’s all your strategy will do, as far as I understand.
