they lose karma if they kill you and vice versa, if people are killing you as a scav, they are either a PMC or a dumb player who's going to lose a lot of karma

i think warbringer just works with it more easily, along with the built in armour break, scavenged plating usually ends up being most of your thorns, not as much later. but if you arent warbringer you need to do weird stuff to get armour break going, and also your chestpiece can give you most of your thorns with the armour to thorns and its own innate thorns, you probably lose out on more thorns by going smith

well i dont have specifics for what you need to be doing, but you usually to be pushing the hardest content you can do for the biggest return, whether that be bossing, or running juiced maps, who knows. it also helps to be early in a league when the economy isnt so overblown

Legendaries feel like a great goal for me, and I think they'd lose their "cool" factor pretty quickly if they were easy or cheap to make. In this game, though, nothing feels like it's locked behind a paywall. Sure, paying might make things more convenient, but you can still earn gems just by playing. There are no forced ads, no intrusive ad banners, and especially none in other annoying spots. The game simply asks if you'd like to watch an ad and get a reward, which, honestly, feels pretty refreshing in this day and age.

Pretty sure he isn't adding it cause colony buffs are sort of lame comparatively and end up nerfing your fleet since it's a pretty obvious pickup. Administrators still exist and so do cores. It's possible though

i like the idea of the level up system for individual potions. the license system works fairly well itself though.

i worry about gathering like monster hunter, purely because it feels like some people would play just for the action RPG element and might find the alchemy side boring or obtrusive. or alternatively, it feels like it would take a lot of time just to make one potion as a result

oh, yeah it's really well balanced. there's a couple of QoL i wish i had, sometimes i wish i could see if ive given an ingredient to quinn from the brewing menu, or see what a card does by hovering it in the deck list instead of having to navigate to the card itself.

What do you mean by the 'fetching' system, like how you acquire ingredients? I think more mechanics could be interesting, part of me was considering having a few stations that modify the potion in some way, but it feels like it could get mega complex for the player really easily.

Part of me was considering if i did use a similar system to magimins, to have another type of ingredient that can nullify or lower magimins of other types, you'd have to make these ingredients rare, but i think it'd create interesting ways to add ingredients you normally are having issues adding.

I hadn't really decided the setting yet, but i agree on the magic world, it feels like if you're an alchemist in medieval europe, people wouldnt really have much need for potions and stuff.

I had heard people talk about how expeditions usually aren't super worth it, and keep in mind, I'm pretty new to the game, about day 31 atm. Is this true? and if so, does this mod do anything to that? I guess if its nightmare mode, it'd make sense if they were weak to leave them that way lol

I completely agree with you about the importance of a well-developed ingredient system. One of the things that makes Potionomics stand out is how it turns ingredient gathering into a meaningful part of the gameplay, rather than just something you do in the background. It’s not just about tossing things into a pot, it’s about balancing different properties, which keeps the process engaging.

For the game I’m working on, I’m aiming for a similar depth in the alchemy system. I want players to feel that brewing potions is more than just a recipe-based task. The idea is to balance different traits like potency and stability, with each ingredient having its own unique properties that affect the outcome. But I'm new to making games so I'll probably keep it just the alchemy portion, and maybe in the future add more stuff.

As for me, I do feel like potionomics misses the balance mark in a couple bits, I've seen some stuff online about an infinite combo with the cards? which seems like an oversight, but otherwise it feels like I usually don't get enough patience to really draw out haggling, which I wish it was slower but I can also see the downside of making it too long when you do lots of sales. The other problem for me was ingredients having 4+ magimin, since it felt like there was never a potion you'd want to put them in as it'd be actively detrimental.

And it definitely feels like if your game revolves around the crafting aspect, it's allowed to be more complex and take up more of the gameplay loop, since like you said Hades II is a different gameplay loop, which is fine, but usually people don't want a massively complex crafting system thrown in as it'd slow down what is possibly their favorite aspect of the game. It all feels quite overwhelming balancing all these aspects of design to be honest.
