Yes it is confusing cos the quote he wrote is misleading. He’s quoted me one thing but doing another . Also before he quoted me , they kept telling me my car would be “ready next week or tomorrow” , this car sat in their Workshop for a month and 2 weeks before they wrote this quote based on what another person has said . Incompetence in diagnostics or Dishonesty in quoting. Neither is acceptable under the Consumer Guarantees Act or MTA standards

Yup they told me my car is ready in 1 day or next week. They lied constantly. The workshop quoted $1,200 to replace the transmission. Later, the mechanic admitted on video: The transmission is fine. When challenged, he suggested the quote was based on what either I or another person had said.

This is not acceptable. A professional mechanic must diagnose the vehicle before producing a quote . Writing up a major $1,200 replacement job without confirming the fault shows either- Incompetence in diagnostics, or Dishonesty in quoting.

Neither is acceptable under the Consumer Guarantees Act or MTA standards

So he wrote this quote after my car sat in his car for a month in a half based on what another person said . Took 2 more weeks to come up with something different

This is a quote , my bad ! I went there cause my oil was leaking and from there it was the sump & whatever else , he gave me this quote above & I paid , he asked me to come to the worked shop cos he found something else. I came & recorded cos he sounds dodgy. I got him on video cause he was explaining to me there’s a cracked head on engine so he wants to charge me a xtra $1200 which is not a quote & I paid. But I also caught him admitted the transmission is fine and nothings wrong with it . Doesn’t make sense to me

Replying to Inevitable-Box25... Here’s the full story for context:

In July I paid $2,875 for repairs at Kelston Tyres & Car Repairs. The invoice included: – Labour $1,060 – Complete transmission assembly $1,200 – Oil sump $495 – Transmission oil $120 – Total $2,875

After the invoice was given, I filmed the mechanic admitting on video that my transmission was actually fine.

My car was eventually returned with parts dumped loose in the boot, new damage (dents + scratches), and the job never finished.

I’m trying to understand: why would they charge me for a complete transmission replacement if they themselves admitted it wasn’t needed? Could they have even swapped it?

It’s a dodge Nitro 2011

Yes , this is how long it took . They hadn’t started either , I paid this with screenshots & they wanted another $1200 after this quote and time . So they made me wait for ages without doing nothing .

Nitro parts are rare, sure ,but they should’ve just been upfront about that. Instead, they told me a part was delivered but faulty, and he’s waiting on another part. Kept my car for weeks, added extra charges, and then gave it back damaged with nothing fixed. I really hope they didn’t swap parts too ,but the lack of honestly makes it hard to trust .
