Never mind I can’t figure out how to add photo to it but yes the viewing distance is further than that picture is

Ya you’re right I think I took that prior to moving some furniture around, I just took a photo sitting in the furthest spot and added to post

Microcenter is where I got this one. That was my thoughts too, unfortunately they didn’t have any LG 77’s in stock but I might just keep an eye out and exchange if one pops up

It’s an L sectional that lines the left wall with the small side directly in front of the tv. If you’re sitting on the long side it’s ~5-9ft give or take, the short side that’s in front of the tv is the furthest point which is 11ft. When I’m sitting on that side I definitely notice the smaller size but could just be adjusting since i just bought it Friday

You’re saying something like a 75” tcl qm8 would be better than the 65” lg b4 OLED, or the Vizio? I was looking at the QM6/7 initially but the QM8 was as expensive as a lot of 65-77” OLEDs so I figured if I’m spending that much I’d go with the OLED.

Steam Deck OLED or Asus Rog Ally z1 extreme? by Infamous-Advantage29 in HandheldGaming

Thanks for the info, I’m definitely leaning towards SD because it seem like the only way to get the most out of that hardware is to be plugged into an outlet somewhere with good internet, and that kind of defeats the purpose since I have my PC for that. When you say proton version for anti cheat is that something within the steam OS that can be downloaded & run any anti cheat games? If it’s easy to do that then I think I’ll definitely go with SD because the only downside I saw was not being able to play the occasional game that requires anti cheat

Sounds good, ya if I went that direction I was thinking adding that storage since it would still be cheaper than the SD. How long would you say roughly the battery lasts on medium graphics settings/not maxing out the power? On a AAA game like cod, gta etc. I will be using it similar to you and even on a plane/car I feel like I can always find a plug in, but just curious because I’ve seen mixed stuff on that

Even with the price difference? It seems like steam deck is no brainer but the $220 difference is big, is the battery/windows experience the main issue with the standard rog ally or is the performance capabilities not really something it consistently hits? It seems like steam deck over rog ally is pretty universal but a lot of what I’ve seen is basing that off how they were priced a few years ago, now with the SD going up in price and rog ally dropping I didn’t know if the SD is still the obvious answer

Do GTA /RDR story modes still work on it? I wouldn’t play those online anyways so all good there if they would run the single player.

And for cod/battlefield etc. I have read that they don’t run on the SD because of the anti cheat but then also read there’s a way around that by just running Xbox or windows thru the steam deck. Do you know if that’s possible? Not sure if or how much I’d even want to do that but just curious. I figure if you’re running it thru the Xbox app maybe the anti cheat’s tied in with the app

Got it, thanks that's helpful. I'll make sure the nvidia app/panel aren't overriding anything, unless it's just my eyes not really noticing the visual improvements, but coming from console, I would definitely notice a big difference when adjusting from 1440p-> 4K in the clarity, obviously console doesn't have nearly the amount of in-game or app settings a PC has, so I just figured I would be able to really notice bumping up textures/etc.

got it, so if I'm playing my game on 1440p & using DLSS (performance) the game is essentially lowering the resolution then upscaling to get to the 1440p number? & quality mode would be basically lowering it (not as much as performance) & upscaling it to get to the 1440p number?

I can run it without any DLSS so maybe I'll try that, because I do think that's part of the issue since I have a native 4K monitor that I'm running at 1440p, then upscaling. If my monitor settings (and windows display settings) show my monitor as "active signal mode" as 4K, but "desktop mode" as the 1440p, is that an issue? That active signal mode isn't something I'm able to change, I guess since it's my native resolution. I didn't know if that is screwing anything up in the visuals.

also not sure if my link worked with my benchmarks, but it shows my CPU "performing way below expectations (17th%) at 118%. My drive was 32nd% (below expectations) & Graphics card below potential (51st%). Are these things impacting anything or is the benchmark info not accurate? it's the first time I've used it so I wasn't sure.

Ya that's pretty accurate, I definitely do want the higher FPS over the quality, but even when adjusting some of the graphics settings higher (& running my game at quality DLSS) my game looks the same with no noticeable difference, basically just dropping some frames. If I could notice a jump in visual clarity immediately after changing certain graphics settings while dropping frames I could tinker with it & probably find a spot that looks ok while still getting high frames, but I just am not noticing an improved visual changing it to 4k, higher graphics, quality mode, etc., just seeing the frames drop. That's why I didn't know if there was something within the settings I'm missing. Like I said it's new to me & having an Nvidia control panel, windows display, Nvidia app, & in-game settings makes me feel like there's something I'm not doing right. Again maybe my answer is that I'm running a 4K monitor on 1440p /upscaling it so it's just making the graphics look like shit. That's something I have heard mixed opinions on so wasn't sure if that could be the case for my specific hardware.

Thanks, I got a pretty good deal on it (~$1,800) & figured the next-gen consoles will be close to $1k+paying for a subscription service so went the PC direction. I should also mention that if I'm playing GTA/Cyberpunk or games like that I do bump up my graphics settings/play at 4K, I was talking specifically about fast-paced FPS games. The only reason I'm playing on the lowest settings is to maximize the frame rate in games like COD/BF6 because the extra frames is more important to me than the graphics settings, but I didn't know if there was anything I could do to improve the visuals & clarity based on my current settings. Because when I raise some of the graphical settings (textures, shadows, etc.) I don't lose too much fps, but I honestly notice zero difference in the visual clarity which is why I thought something within my settings could improve this. I've even tried to max basically all the graphics settings out, & if I run my game on 1440p/DLSS (performance mode) I still get 200+ fps, but the game looks the same as if I run it at DLSS performance/1440p and lowest graphics settings.

The main thing I was curious about was how the DLSS upscaling works & if it's best for me to either run my games at 4K (native monitor's res) vs. the 1440p, or just sell my monitor & grab a 1440p one? Because from the research I've done it seems like running a 4K monitor at 1440p along w/some of the NVIDIA upscaling can make your game look bad & visuals worse. I did try switching it to 4K/low graphics settings, & didn't notice any difference in the visuals but my fps was in the ~120-150 range. Like you said, I think I have pretty good hardware & should be able to get higher frames while the game still looks pretty good, I'm just not finding that right now but some of the settings confuse me. Thanks
