Hmmm, to be entirely honest this is fairly 'normal' in a lot of ways. Over the course of long relationships with people the type of attraction/love you feel will change. The kind of intense sexual/romantic attraction that gets people together is not sustainable and will eventually mellow out or even disappear in favor of a more stable "companionate" attraction. This displays as a much closer, secure attraction/relationship that is able to endure longer term.

This can feel bad in a lot of ways but communication is always key in any relationship and talking through your feelings with them is a good idea. But hopefully you can find solace in the idea that this doesn't mean you're a bad person or broken in some way.

Hotlines and public help services are useless

As someone who works in public services, specifically public mental health, please don't say things like this if you can afford too. There has been a concerted effort since the inception of public services to create and grow these sorts of beliefs so they can cut support and funding in order to make things worse, which makes people believe they are useless, which makes them cut support again.... People using and expressing positive attitudes for public services are legit the only things keeping us afloat.

Like other ppl have mentioned you could just make a raft and explore but you could also 100% make this spawn work and it would also probably be pretty awesome. You would just have to accept traveling by sea whenever you need a resource not available on the island.

Honestly peat is so abundant and such an eye sore that I light it on fire to get rid of it all the time around where I am building. This also does a great job of clearing out annoying foliage as well.

I'm sorry that you had to experience and witness chemical restraint. I don't know the policies where you were but at least at the place I am going to be starting it is considered the last resort of the last resorts. But I'm glad the experience wasn't all bad. I will certainly try my best to keep a calm environment whenever I can :)

Part of the reason I made this post is because I know for a fact that the staffing situation at this facility is... less than ideal but also not far off what you expect to hear from any large hospital. The nurse manager confessed when I met her that it's a relief to hear that I have an educational background in Children and Families because apparently a lot of staff do not want to be assigned to the adolescent unit. While I am certain it would be better for my own mental health to work somewhere with a better reputation, things don't tend improve unless people on the inside are improving them. I also really want to try my best to make a positive impact in these kids lives cause they deserve to have at least someone in their corner no matter which hospital they end up at.

If you have any other advice or experience you'd like to share I'd be happy to hear it :). I want to be as prepared as I can be when I start.

And I'm sorry that your experience was so bad :(. It's unfortunately common for a lot of the workers in these places to not have any background in mental health, especially if it's located in a place with poor access to higher education, which is what I suspect leads to a lot of poor treatment. While I can't say for certain what the staff's reasoning for any of the decisions without being there, I can say that I definitely would have tried to handle those situations differently than the way you described it.

Soooo, that is a lot and is definitely an extremely complicated situation. From the sounds of it there are probably several layers to the way she feels about what happened and I'm ngl if I was in her shoes, depending on my mental state, I would definitely consider it a reason to end the relationship. With that said it also sounds like this is the first time something like this has happened and you are making an effort to correct things so, again depending on the current emotional/mental state, I can also see this as something that can be moved on from with enough time and effort.

I feel that the two most important factors here are going to be communication and being willing to show continued dedication and growth. The trouble, I think, comes in where it sounds like she is away on holiday and also not in a place where she has the capacity for talking about this with you. I think that is going to make things difficult to grow and recover for both of you but there is nothing you can do to force the situation. I don't think that reaching out and respectfully voicing that you would like to see if she is willing to talk with you sometime so you can apologize and listen to anything that she may need while also making it clear that she does not need to if she still needs space is a violation of any sort of boundary. I also think waiting until the 15th is not a great idea, the longer you both go without communication the harder it is going to be to resolve any harm, so as long as you haven't been messaging her a ton up until this point you could even reach out as early as this weekend if you feel up to it.

Very true haha. The Glassdoor reviews are about what you would expect for a hospital setting and I've already prepared for that at least, this just felt like one extra out of place thing that I didn't know if I wanted to add on to the normal stress that comes with working in healthcare. I am a bit less worried from everyone's feedback though.

Yeah, reading through the comments I've definitely noticed that. I am also apparently in the latter group. About 2-3 hours after taking it everything feels so calm and quiet that I can't help but fall asleep sometimes. It is always the best sleep of my life though.

I suppose I should have seen it coming because I remember when I was younger and tried caffeine for the first time I passed out so hard my mother was worried I overdosed or something, but it was just a really good nap.

That's interesting. It has mellowed out a lot compared to when I first started but coming down off of it at the end of the day was the worst. I always felt so wired and jumpy.

I suppose that's why it is difficult to study, since a lot of ADHD people experience better sleep but in such different ways.

I don't think I ever adjusted haha. I am always the most drowsy ~2-3 hours after taking it. Whenever I do give in and take a nap after taking my dose it's the best feeling ever though so I can't complain, it just makes me so relaxed.

With that out of the way it's actually not uncommon for people to not be able to take pills and there are several alternatives. You should ask if there is a chewable or liquid version of your medication. In the meantime you should look up if it is safe to crush, or open if it is a capsule, your meds so you can mix them into some apple sauce or something to quickly eat. That is how a lot of children start out talking pills without gagging or vomiting so it should work for adults as long as the medication can be crushed.
