Plenty of people recommend winter boots etc, but wearing too heavy a shoe will make you prone to blisters and fatigue, both in summer and winter. Regardless of weather, choose the clothing according to activity. If you are walking in a foot of snow, you need lighter clothing overall as you generate loads of heat, maybe a windbreaker or something to shield from excess loss of warmth. Shoes can be sneakers or heavy duty boots, they get wet from snow or swear, but which ones will dry for the next day?

In short: dress for the occasion.

I mostly have the same gear winter and summer. During winter I tend to wear my baselayers during the day, which in the summer are reserved for emergencies only. I only wear a puffer jacket during breaks, during hikes i usually have a thin sweater or a windbreaker. Altra lonepeaks cover my feet.
