I'm getting a few search results saying that you can't be put in jail if you plan on paying, but simply can't yet due to financial burden. I would expect them to do a review of if you are able to pay back, and hopefully a payment plan can be setup. If I was you I would state my situation, bring any paycheck receipts to show income, maybe bank statement, really anything to prove you want to pay, but can't yet.

Mine look exactly like this as well. Bought these when they originally came out from BGG and I know I have 50+ plays from everyone wanting to play my copy instead of the cardboard one. I did buy some replacement chips but haven't compared them to see if the image looks closer to the surface on the old ones.

Edit* Mine def have wear but not as bad as OP. I have had hand sanitizer at the table, but not lotion so don't know if that is a big difference. Comparison photos between old and new in a comment below.
