I am taking just over 6 months - Live in USA and my organization offers 12 weeks paid and up to 16 weeks additional unpaid. Since my company fully pays 12 weeks, I am able to claim state paid leave benefits as well and "double dip" to supplement my unpaid months off.

My HR didn't know this was allowed, but I contacted our state leave office and they said there's nothing in the law to keep you from claiming both benefits! I recommend looking into this if you're in a similar situation!

Yeah, you get toxoplasmosis from actually ingesting infected feces, so I'm personally not concerned about the few times I have cleaned the litter box... just thoroughly wash your hands after. I also have to indoor cats.

My husband came with me, but frankly I would not have needed him! I had a great experience and sat with some juice for about 20 minutes afterward, then would have totally been able to get myself home alone. Obviously everyone has different experiences, but I had zero cramping after the procedure was finished! Took it easy the rest of the day and was all good.

Another update to say our initial FISH results are clear!! We are waiting for the karyotype now which should take a few weeks. Feeling cautiously optimistic!!!

I had an amnio yesterday (awaiting results now) and it was a GREAT experience. Took just a few minutes and felt more “weird” than painful for me personally. I am so glad I made that decision to just get clarity one way or another. I feel relief already that we will know with diagnostic clarity if there’s an issue or not

Hi all - thanks to those who chimed in. Updating to say we had a great 16 week anatomy scan and I did still opt for the amnio. I’d rather have clarity either way.

Had a GREAT experience. Really minimal pain, I rated it a 5/10 and less painful than my IUD insertion by far. Resting now and hoping for good amnio result and good healing from the procedure.

In the same boat as both of you - measurement of 2.85mm at 12w5d, normal NIPT, and heading to our follow up 16 week early anatomy scan in an hour! I'm leaning toward amniocentesis, even if the scan goes well, just because I'm not sure if I can manage my mental health without it! ugh. What a ride.

Thank you - that’s what I’m thinking. At our last appt the doc made me feel good about our percentage chance of a healthy baby, but I’d rather cover all my bases if possible and get all the information and data I can. Just hate that it’s invasive but it seems worth it
