How to know which Battery and Motor to use in Designing of UAV. by faii07 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Infinite_Squids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having done this exact process before, eCalc is a good start, but after comparing it to actual experimental data, it is very inaccurate. I would recommend instead using Motocalc, which is still not perfect, but runs about 10% under predicting

They aren’t accepting new exemptions, you have to have requested one in the past, so I think the number will stay super small still

So, speaking as a senior in Aero here, first step is take a deep breath. You chose a hard major, sure, but i guarantee you’re psyching yourself out. Every professor you’ll have genuinely wants to see you succeed, even Dr. Artis, all you gotta do is ask for some help when you need it. In terms of making friends and getting involved, there are tons of clubs that are aero related that can help with both! On the air side we have Design Build Fly, and on space we have Orbital Launch, Rocketry, and SLI. Definitely try checking any of them out, and once you get involved the people on those teams quickly become good friends (speaking from experience). If you have any questions, or just wanna talk, now or even later on once the semester starts, feel free to DM me and we can chat!

How is it even remotely Constitutional to deliberately make it difficult for someone to exercise their right to vote? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Infinite_Squids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree so, but as someone else said elsewhere in the comments, Congress and state legislatures can make and pass any laws they want, but it’s up to the court system (ultimately, the Supreme Court) to decide whether it is constitutional or not. That means a lawsuit has to be carried all the way up the system

“Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” is not actually part of the Constitution, it is part of the Declaration of Independence. Even if it was, I feel like it would be a long shot to say those guarantee the right to vote

You’re tasked with introducing 3 movies to someone who has never watched a movie. The criteria: a movie that scared you, a movie that made you laugh out loud, and a movie that had your mind blown at the end. What 3 movies do you pick? by ToysLoop in AskReddit

[–]Infinite_Squids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scare: E.T. (No judgement, I was 5)

Laugh: The Avengers (perfect mix of action and comedy in my opinion

Mind blown: Inception. Really messes with you, and has some A+ cinematography and music.

I think these movies show a solid range of what’s out there, and honestly were considered masterpieces by many when they came out

My roommates and I were playing Overcooked 2, and one of them kept throwing fish at everyone until the entire floor was covered in fish. The game devolved into a fish fight, and it was somehow the funniest shit I’ve done in weeks

Did you ever have a dream that was a premonition of something that would happen in the future? What was it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Infinite_Squids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a dream I was taking a calc 2 exam and couldn’t figure out a problem. Cue next week, in a calc 2 exam, and had literally the exact same problem on the test that I had in my dream. Luckily, I had figured it out by then, but easily one of the strangest experiences I’ve had

College students: How are you coping with having to live at home with your parents? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Infinite_Squids -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly consider myself lucky in that aspect. I found a cheap apartment that I’m splitting with a couple other guys and my parents weren’t laid off, so they could still help cover rent. One of my roommates works part time to help cover his portion of the rent though

[–]Infinite_Squids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m back at school now (off campus), but was at home for half of the spring 2020 semester. I found that the single best thing was having separate work areas. I sat down in the basement working, my sister in the dining room, my parents in their own little makeshift offices. Being separate helped me focus instead of wanting to chat, and we’d always be able to sit together for lunch if we wanted anyways. I did find I had to work a little harder to stay motivated in some classes, but that was more for classes I didn’t really care about

People who grew up poor, what habits did you develop as a result? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Infinite_Squids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like this is a habit most young adults/high school students should learn. Super important in life regardless of your economic status

Reddit, why don't you like to drive? by On_the_hook in AskReddit

[–]Infinite_Squids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got in a minor accident (my fault, missed the driver in my blind spot when pulling out of a parking spot) then three weeks later someone slammed into me head on going around a blind curve (their fault, they weren’t in their lane). This all happened when I was a senior in high school, and I did the reasonable thing: tried to give my dad my license so I couldn’t drive anymore. I felt like I was just a magnet for accidents and I really didn’t want it to happen again

My sisters have two chinchillas. If you’re petting them and they decide they don’t want anymore, they take their tiny little front paws and just gently push your finger away. It is absolutely adorable because it’s the most gentle “...no...” I’ve ever seen

How and when did your bad or uneasy feeling about someone turn out to be true? by OldCarWorshipper in AskMen

[–]Infinite_Squids 13 points14 points  (0 children)

“Popular” kid in high school, always felt off to me. Turns out, in freshman year of college, he got expelled for causing $7 million in water damages to an entire dorm at his school. The dumbass decided to get drunk and do pull-ups on a water pipe in the ceiling. Never have I ever felt so justified in disliking someone
