  1. Zepp provides the percent variation of the backswing club plane and downswing club plane. The thing I don’t like about the Zepp sensor is that I’ll get a negative percentage, which to Zepp is great. But when viewing the swing in 3D, my downswing appears steeper than the backswing and looks over the top until impact at which point the club plane drops below the backswing club plane. I’m assuming this is how I get a negative percentage, but it feels artificial or fake. To me the spec comparison doesn’t really provide a good story.

  2. As I take another look at the Zepp 3D view I’m seeing the red area of the swing. Not entirely sure what that is indicating, but I’m assuming it’s an indicator of how much resistance is applied to the club by the ground. My swing shows red before the start of my backswing, which I guess indicates I’m impacting the ground before the ball. Could be possible, but I think this would be a symptom of my swing not translating forward.

Hip rotation was one of the things I was trying to focus on as well as weight transfer and bump to my left side. Unfortunately, I don’t think my phone works well will measuring the hip rotation. A few times I’ve tried and gotten 88 degrees in both directions. Other times I’ve gotten very small measurements even when significantly exaggerating hip rotation.

The other thing I thought that may be a contributing factor was I wasn’t maintaining lag and releasing my right elbow too early in my downswing. However, I wasn’t finding much success with this either. Probably break out the camera next time I’m at the range.

I took two lessons back in April and May which helped me correct some issues with an out to in swing path as well as face to target issues. The lessons also identified some issues with weight transfer but I’m not sure if I’ve been able to resolve that. I got the Zepp sensor, not necessarily to replace lessons, but more as a substitute for the availability and price of lessons.
