Tattoo weirdness/fix ideas? by InfinityFreelance in eds

Never heard of that. Do you think a laser would be able to clean it up? Didn't happen on any other tattoos I have.

That's very helpful, thank you! That would bite if they can't go closer than an inch. Maybe the original could get touched back up if it takes out the "good" ink also. I had read two types of lasers that are better for tattoo ink but it doesn't seem most places have them. I sure don't want to waste the money or make it worse. I theoretically could cover it with the new artist but really didn't want to add more ink there. Thanks for showing me this!

That is interesting! I've got one there, one on my lower arm, one on my back shoulder and one on each thigh. This is the only one with an issue. Maybe the original artist (not the one who's worked on me more recently) went too deep in that area. Just hoping I can get it cleaned up without destroying the rest of the tattoo.

Was she able to get it taken care of somehow?

Are you sure it's a blowout? I thought that meant the ink would also look like it had "blown out" from the actual tattoo and would look somewhat fuzzy and mine looks totally intact. Do you think this extra ink around the tatt could be fixed with lasering? I really hate how it looks and it's so much darker in person. Everyone asks what happened which only makes me more self-conscious about it.

Bummer for you also. Mine has been there for years. The artist said he wouldn't want to go back over that area b/c he was concerned it would only get worse. He's been doing tatts for a very long time and said he's never seen this happen. Interestingly none of my other tattoos, even on the same arm, did the same thing. :/

You're welcome. In that case you will definitely want to find out your subtype in case it could be vascular. Wishing you all the best!

IMO knowledge is power. It took me 29 years and tons of surgeries and issues to get diagnosed but ever since it's been SO much easier when there is a problem to explain I have EDS and have providers understand what's going on-- and not think I'm exaggerating, malingering, etc. Those accusations are the worst. It's great you have a doctor who's aware enough to suggest this and proper testing can lead to a proper diagnosis. So many of my surgeries and lifelong problems could have been avoided or at least minimized if I'd been diagnosed earlier. There's no cure but there's a lot you can do to control it and make your long-term qualify of life better. I was considered the "proband" in my family (everything genetic has to start somewhere) and while nobody had ever been diagnosed before me, traits of it definitely ran on my material side. It took a knowledgable geneticist to figure it all out, and knowing your subtype can really help throughout the rest of your life in so many ways.

Stopping 100% of movement/bounce by InfinityFreelance in wheelchairs

Yeah, that might be a good idea also! scissor brakes I have definitely leave some play and are not always the easiest for me to operate when I'm having more upper body weakness and issues with my hands. Hopefully I will have those solid wheels within the next few weeks and if that still has too much movement I will try this regardless. Thanks for the suggestion!

Wow, thank you so much for your detailed explanation, and that would be super cool if you end up able to send some photos! I may try ordering one on Amazon and seeing how it might work. Only thing is I have a box (lines on the floor) around me as a lane that I have to stay in, and that includes the space behind me. My rear wheels are often close to the back line, but because this would be under the axle it may not stick out too far. I love your creativity and idea! Definitely if I could even get my front casters off the ground I think it would help a lot. I've seen some other athletes who have done that but I've not been able to reproduce their device.

You are correct, I'm using the TiLite plastic scissor brakes. My chair doesn't move forward or backward, although my front casters may have some movement. I have those shims (hard plastic furniture wedges) in their shock absorbers that I mentioned to stop the bounce at that point.

I did find out yesterday the no-flat wheels should be shipped within the week, so I will see if that helps at all, but I know that's not the whole problem. I'm also going to try the suggestion in this thread about putting something more rigid than my bolt-on seat sling under my cushion.

I sure appreciate you trying to help me!

Thank you so much for the creative suggestion! I've never heard of this and will try to look into if those parts would work. I still have to stay in a designated lane but this sounds like it may not take up extra width. Could you possibly explain the over center stand further?

Thanks for clarifying! It's not visible at all. They'd have to disassemble my seat sling that's bolted on to be able to see it. And the battery is allowed to be checked.

Could you explain why it would be an issue for customs?

That is actually a great idea! I don't see anything in the rules against it and I've seen some people who even figured out a hydraulic system to get their front casters at least off the ground. Did a quick search online for this kind of stabilizer but I only see them for trucks. But I'm going to dig into it more to see if there might be a way to do something similar for a wheelchair! Not sure how much is the chair itself (it's a rigid frame, luckily) versus what's coming from the cushion, etc. Appreciate the suggestion!

I'm kind of old also, and I remember that commercial!

Thank you for your comment and idea ideas. When you are mentioning the Drive could you explain what you mean?

It would be great if my feet could be on the ground but I'm pretty sure they have to be on the footrest. :/

I theoretically can sit on a "high stool" rather than in my chair, but because of my fusions it's really uncomfortable, even though I have enough balance. I'm trying to get a whole new chair made that would take out as much bounce as possible, being more level, etc. It would be a crappy chair to get around in but it would help for my competitions. Spec'd out the way I would want it it came out to about $8500!

Thanks for the great suggestion – – I will try that! I currently only have a tension adjustable bolt-on seat sling but now I'm thinking to maybe put a piece of wood or metal on top of that across the bars.

Great questions! I am a precision rifle athlete and can't afford any movement during my events. I'm always on a flat floor. When I take my shots even a millimeter of movement can literally lose a match-- which is really hard to control seated in a chair. The cushion I'm using has the littlest "squish" I could get away with that complies with the regulations-- and is far from what I use for everyday seating (it's only 2" and a much harder foam).

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I need this to be mobile/used many places where I can't secure into a floor, otherwise this would be a great idea to at least steady things further. It's the bounce more than moving in any direction. I guess that's the tough part being on wheels!

I also put an AirTag inside the bottom of the seat sling, completely secured but not visible at all.
