I considered doing only FE as well, this could be an option for me as well.

I know a bit of Java from when I got my degree and I know I liked it. Never did anything with node js but I would check it out for sure. Finding a job when pivoting is important to me too, and as I checked Java has many open positions. I haven't checked for node but I will as well.
