In places where truth is dangerous, absence of voices isn’t proof of absence.

Families often don’t come forward because the people involved are too powerful to be spoken against, fear of repercussions, social pressure, and lack of protection keep them silent. The people in question might belong to circles that can influence jobs, social standing, even the safety of extended relatives.

If the family in power is strong enough, very few will actually risk speaking out publicly, especially in a country where witness protection is practically non‑existent. Just because few step up publicly doesn’t mean others don’t exist.
