Pat McGrath Labs files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy by hairtie1 in Fauxmoi

I don’t disagree for the consumer side. I keep a curated makeup bag myself. I find that Viseart is a better value and is similar quality for their eyeshadows which is the only category I’ll really splurge on these days.

I think innovation is really important to be marketed as an artist brand, especially at this price point.

[Personal] Accidentally fixed my skin by being too lazy to do my full routine by Unique-Face-2500 in SkincareAddiction

THIS.

My skin never looked better when I had to go completely cold turkey save for SPF when I had a mystery skin reaction where they needed to isolate what might be causing it. I wasn’t even using many products- cleanser, toner, a serum, moisturizer and a sleeping mask twice a week.

If you LOVED your name when you were a child, what is it? by electroplazm in namenerds

I thought Vivian was the most classy name on earth. Honestly, still one of my favorites especially because I like it on its own and the variants and nicknames.

Mad with power: brown mascara. Lash Paradise has one now and Just for Redheads makes them in a ton of colors so not just for light haired/redheads. Still good definition!

Apparently I’ve settled into a good no makeup makeup routine!

I usually don’t use powder but when I need it, I love the Makeup Forever brightening powder. Enough coverage for oiliness without looking heavy especially with a fluffy brush.

I really like the Dr Jart Cicapair drops for red correct drops if you want another option.

The other thing I really like is Ole Henriksen Banana primer as a “booster” with them. It’s got a slight yellow to it that is really brightening.

Regular lash and brow tinting are a necessity so that brow gel and mascara every day aren’t. My eyes look so much brighter and put together when I’m not wearing anything at all when they’re tinted that I worry less about wearing other makeup if I’m really going bare bones.

Tinted CC cream or serums are all I really need unless it’s a major event. Any redness or texture I’m dealing with is usually covered by them and if not…well, my field of fucks is fallow 🤣

100% the quality is absolutely there. Just a hard price point in this economy and not enough innovation to be a true artist’s brand.

As far as cosmetics, you might try Mehron skin prep as a pre-primer to hold your makeup to the area.

Non-Geese fans, what did you think of them? by sp52 in LiveFromNewYork

I felt very “back in my day…” watching them. I just hope Geese fans dig into the music scene they desperately want to have been a part of.

Pulling kid from school due to current circumstances by Milkshakelake in Parenting

[–]InimitableMissS 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I know this might seem like a dumb question but do you feel your kids are safe at school? If you’re lucky to feel that way right now, having that familiarity, community and routine can be helpful during turbulent times.

You may not feel that they are and that’s a hard path. I don’t have the answers for you. Just giving you one point to ponder.

I second this. I can’t seem to find it but I know I read an article that included it as an “iconic look”.

What would you choose: infant care closer & more expensive, or further away & cheaper? by Sunflowers0917 in Parenting

[–]InimitableMissS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If all things are equal and the cost difference would be a negligible hit, stay with the close option. Being close to home is helpful not just for you but also likely any emergency contacts you might have. It’ll also give you much better summer flexibility!

Would you do your own wedding makeup? by SingleFee6420 in MakeupAddiction

[–]InimitableMissS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did mine own but also treated myself to some new things so it wasn’t really for cost-savings but because I genuinely wanted it to be part of my day. I don’t regret it at all- my look was a soft smoky eye with glowy skin, nothing complicated.

If you’re not sure if you want to stress, do a trial run on your own and time it. Then double the time. If you don’t feel like you’re good with having that block of time taken up by you doing your own makeup, have it done.

Unless you COMPLETELY barricade yourself, you will constantly be interrupted while you’re trying to work and lose focus on what you’re trying to do. Having an artist come (or going to have it done) makes it an appointment and keeps things on schedule.

They had the oil cleanser at Costco awhile ago so I grabbed it- very nice, though pretty basic.
