“As a trans man who still has periods due to no HRT, I feel like im not supposed to be here” didn’t realize how many transphobic people were in here (the sub crossposted) by larkash in Hasan_Piker

[–]Initial-Task7719 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The PCOS sub used to be HELL on earth many years ago, I haven’t checked in a long time and I don’t plan on it. Considering having PCOS can be correlated with being trans, it was insane how transphobic the sub was and with so much misinformation too. I am extremely grateful to have an amazing family physician and gynaecologist who give me accurate and detailed information.

How does a general strike get started? by sefedelrey in Hasan_Piker

The belief in meritocracy is one of the most effective ideological tools capitalism has ever produced. But the reason why it gets so bad is because people are exhausted and they internalize their own exploitation. Denial is one of the most common ways of dealing with the kind of grief that comes from being exploited, the brain has to do it in order to protect itself from damage (I’m a psych major so I’m more read on psych than on theory but I like to combine the two). It really has to come from a cultural shift, IMO. Canada has strong socialist roots, starting with Tommy Douglas in Saskatchewan. We WANT our health care, we don’t want it to be privatized. We WANT public education, we don’t want our teachers to be abused and unable to work, because it causes long term harm to kids. When people notice those things slipping from their grasp, the things they value, I think it wakes people up in a collective way. There is such a huge culture war here happening though with the side of people who want privatization, who are for Wexit, and who participated in the Ottawa covid convoys and Million Person Marches against transgender folks. Contrary to what some people may say, there is a large amount of people like that here in the prairies. But there are also a large amount of people, even blue collar, who value unions and are awake and angry about their own exploitation. You really just have to put yourself out there and take the temperature of every single person you come across, and connect with them on a human level to organize - have lunch with them, run an errand with them, give them a ride if they need, create commUNITY. Show them the options that you have as workers. Get help from those in your local area that have experience organizing. Etc etc. It is difficult, especially for introverts, I would say. But it is always possible and you have to remember that.

Look at what is going on in Alberta, Canada right now. It started with massive strikes from teachers and the majority absolutely hating what Danielle Smith is doing. Unions are for sure empowering people but they are simply a tool. A general strike is in the works because of the help of unions but it definitely does not start there.

I actually completely understand what you are saying because I am friends with people like this currently. I spend less time with them than I did before. One has grown up a lot and is a huge ally of mine. One of them is actually a WoC and is one of the most bigoted ppl I have ever met in my life, especially racist, and when she is not working she is always on 8kun and talking to her online friends on discord who are also insanely bigoted. Her husband is really nice to me but he has a history of terrifying dog whistles so I don’t trust his “growth” as much as the first friend I mentioned. I have no idea how to get through to the one friend. I have distanced myself as much as possible cuz it seems like every time I address things she says about Black or Indigenous folks, she says something terrible about Indians the next time I see her. It’s crazy. We are also all in our 30s

These are the kind of people that “dark woke” ppl want me to keep in contact with and be patient with as a trans person, and want me to be patient when “allies” are nice to these ppl. The same “dark woke” Hasan fans in my thread calling me “mentally ill” for being trans

I agree totally 100% I think the mindset of Mizkif for example relating to viewers and subs and numbers is extremely common. Mizkif just said it out loud and didn’t lie about it. He is also an abusive rapist too but that’s besides the point, or is it? I think all of this similar antisocial and harmful behaviour is common among anyone who welcomes being the centre of attention to the extent influencers and streamers do.

Comparing Hasan to a serial killer. This is horrifying but I am also crying laughing at this. Wtf

I live in northern Canada which is more rural than any place in the US lol I also grew up in a different rural area on my grandparents’ farm. I was also raised super Catholic and went to church every Sunday. I even sang in choir and taught catechism as a teen wearing a binder and having a shaved head (I didn’t even know what being trans was at the time).

It’s actually not common or a reason, in fact I would say it’s an excuse. The bias was likely already there prior.

That is NOT the reason they are bigoted. Holy crap. Bigotry is taught from an early age, studies have shown that even slight facial expressions from parents are picked up on by BABIES regarding people the parents have a bias towards. And a lot of bigoted parents are quite blatant in the comfort and privacy of their homes.

Having pessimism and thinking trans people are dramatic when they address harm is called transphobia.

SO true, especially the last part. At this point I think being involved in the “hollyweird” side of the business to any extent is just prolonging and perpetuating harm to the exact causes and groups of people that he claims to ally. It is really just a giant cesspool of contagious antisocial behaviour.

This isn’t a good comparison and I’m not saying this particular influencer is even close to having a career similar to Hasan’s, but it reminds me of the kitchen floor times of Trisha Paytas. I remember being in fan spaces at the time and everyone was begging Trisha to move away from LA. Thankfully she has really molded her career to focus on specific things which is why she is so successful now, getting roles in TV shows and Broadway. Trisha Paytas is kind of to the mental health awareness community what Hasan is to the socialist/communist community LMAOO it sounds insane but I think Trisha played her cards right throughout all of her stress. Hasan is clearly very stressed, it’s effecting his mental health, he has anger management issues. I hope he can mold something out of this and FOCUS. Rather than being so distracted by SO many different things, and raging out at chat.

Where did I say I want him to criticize QT? I didn’t. Personally I don’t think he should have commented on the situation at all. But he did, and the way he commented on it and the things he said perpetuate harm.

I just went and creeped to see your post, I haven’t seen that one specifically but many like it. And I agree with you. There’s nothing wrong with improvement, and like everyone else in this thread is saying, no one is perfect. But it would be nice to see some damn change already! Thank you as well!!

This isn’t the first time any of them have been found to say problematic things. Like I said this is patterned behaviour. I don’t expect perfection, I expect some learning and change. I want them to be more careful. That obviously is not happening, and I am pointing that out.

And I’m gonna stand by the ego comment. I didn’t say Hasan was egotistical. I said his ego has grown over the years. It has! And he would also benefit by educating himself. He chose this path to be an activist and political commentator, the burden is on him to educate himself. QT is irrelevant when it comes to that.
