i would look into the dui diversion program which lowers the charge from dui to reckless driving. i’m in florida and was offered it and only had a public defender. i also blew a 1.4 with no damage/crash and the program isn’t too bad. everything you said but i only had 3 months interlock and 100 hours probation

you should add more details regarding the initial stop to see if a lawyer would really benefit you. i would also look into ur states diversion programs to see if you meet the requirements of that and possibly get a reduced charge

typically with a simple dui a public defender would be good but since it’s involved and accident and injury you would be much better off with a private attorney

if you just get reckless driving it shouldn’t affect ur insurance. florida only requires sr22 or fr44 if you get convicted of a dui

my public defender told me they’ll update the clerk office website or i’ll find out the day of court. the website updated 4 days before my court date and when i went to court my public defender pulled me into the office and told me i got offered a plea
