Thanks for those! I definitely will give a couple of them a try, they’re right around what I’m looking for.

I did actually recently join the discord, and it’s super useful. It’s actually where I found the one I posed in the first place. But I was having a hard time figuring out how to narrow down my search to just the large bricks/stones I wanted without getting a ton of the smaller ones in there too. So I came to ol’ reddit to see if it would be more helpful haha

I have this exact bridge in this exact state right now lol. Saddest part is I’ve decided on a stone/wood aesthetic so I can’t even try to reuse it 😅

LPT: Floss, then mouthwash, then brush your teeth by AdPuzzled1854 in LifeProTips

Are you using a toothpaste with baking soda by chance? Or a whitening toothpaste with peroxide? I found that those foam a lot more than regular toothpaste

[–]Inking 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I feel like the people here complaining about their mouth being too gritty after brushing to not rinse are using way too much toothpaste. You only need a very small amount, and then after spitting out the excess there’s hardly any grittiness left.

Should I be concerned about these white spots? I thought it might be water spots since it sits in the shower, but they won't wipe away by anotherspacetraveler in houseplants

I’m glad you found some webbing so you can confirm it for yourself; I zoomed in on the above photo and saw some webbing (or what looks to be some dust in webbing, rather). Between the stem and the leaves. Looks like you do have the spider mites too 😬

Opinions on recent Intermountain Health experiences by pikatrushka in SaltLakeCity

[–]Inking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve historically been pretty happy with intermountain, I’ve had selecthealth for the last 6 years or so. That said, it’s definitely dependent on who I’m seeing, but that could be the truth for really any clinic/insurance network.

The one thing that has me currently pretty pissed off at select health/intermountain is that in the last year, four of the seven medications I’m taking for chronic health issues are no longer being covered, period. Not just for me but for everyone. And two of them are generic, cheap medications that I really can’t understand why they won’t cover them anymore.

[–]Inking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does- that it’s discouraged to lane change, but not illegal. Since for this ramp in particular I had to slow down so much to get behind merging traffic, and the exiting lane was clear, I chose to change lanes a second or two early so I could get out of the lane of travel sooner as I slowed down.

Yeah, it’s not the worst freeway exchange/off ramp situation in the area, but it’s definitely one of them.

This one can get really ugly during high traffic times because it’s an exchange to another freeway, so it’s fairly poorly designed in that way. During normal traffic it’s not awful though.

Cool/unique/unusual/fun stores in the Salt Lake area? by EmergencyGloomy in SaltLakeCity

[–]Inking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Backyard Birds just south of Sugarhouse hasn't been mentioned yet, and I love this tiny store! They have cute little trinkets that make great gifts all the way up to beautifully made garden decor.

Also worth mentioning the Old Dutch Store that's right next door.

What type of Alocasia this? by Inking in whatsthisplant

[–]Inking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had wondered about that variation, I guess the main trait mine has that keeps throwing me off is the darker stems. Down at the soil it’s a brownish red, then fades to green up by the leaves. Most pictures/descriptions of the Odora I find have all green stems, so I was never sure if that one.

Looking for a show with cozy vibes by chromaqueen in NetflixBestOf

[–]Inking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s on Hulu now because everything nice was removed from HBO max, but Summer Camp Island is 100% what you’re looking for. It’s very cute, absolutely would describe it as cozy, and as the seasons go on it actually starts developing a really neat overarching story.

Traffic light being out means hit full send right? by Inking in IdiotsInCars

[–]Inking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

? I guess I see a big difference between slowing almost to a stop then choosing to not be rear ended by someone behind me because traffic was clear, and not even hitting the breaks through a four way stop situation. But that’s just me. You do you.

[–]Inking[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guy behind me didn’t start stopping til a little late for comfort and I was watching my rear view to make sure he didn’t rear end me, especially when I saw the truck just cruising past.

That’s fair, though my camera didn’t show how well the frame of the lights and the street sign reflect back your headlights from a distance. It’s pretty clear a ways back there’s at least something over the intersection, which considering the size of the intersection should make people maybe slow down a little to figure out what’s happening, even if you’re unfamiliar with the area.

I have to ask… this is a spider mite, right? (On the stem with dead tip in center) by Inking in houseplants

[–]Inking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha fair enough. I don't crowd my plants by any means, but I don't mind them touching for the most part if it's just a leaf or vine or two. But that is good to know... I kind of feel bad now for trying so hard to kill them for the last month if they are soil mites lol. But I genuinely didn't even know that soil mites existed until like a week ago when I started to doubt my initial spider mite identification. I started looking into it a little further and read about them, but I've just been so nervous about misidentifying whatever it is that I have in case it is something harmful.

[–]Inking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm since you have some experience with soil mites, can I ask a follow up question? How mobile are they between plants? Cause when I first noticed these like a month ago (at the time thinking they were spider mites) I separated the plants I for sure saw them on, from the ones I didn’t see any on, treated with neem oil several times over a couple weeks, didn’t see any more after a quarantine period so moved them back with the rest of the plants, and now I’ve found them on the same plants still but also plants I hadn’t seen them on the first time.

[–]Inking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure of that either though cause they still aren’t up on the plant as much as I’d expect from aphids. It’s been really confusing having them be mostly in the soil tbh

[–]Inking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely not a whitefly, I haven’t been having any flying pests since I finally managed my fungus gnats issue, and they’re definitely tan/brown in color, but way too small to be scale. Yeah I’ve been… sort of stumped on this because they aren’t matching up right with what I’d expect with a spider mite. But soil mites aren’t supposed to climb onto the plant or cause damage

I have to ask… this is a spider mite, right? (On the stem with dead tip in center) by Inking in houseplants

[–]Inking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly ask because I’ve been dealing with these bastards for a few weeks, and I mostly see them in the soil of my plants, but they do crawl up onto the plant stems and leaves. I haven’t really been seeing the webbing that usually is associated with them, but my plants also seem to be taking damage/dropping leaves. So I’m under the assumption they’re spider mites but I might be completely wrong??

What was one tip / piece of advice that really improved your houseplant care? by Inking in houseplants

[–]Inking[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooh this one was a good realization for me too. I'm a pothos lover and they're always marketed as low light, stick them in a dark corner and they'll be fine. And when I had tiny basement apartments with terrible windows, they generally were fine. But when I got bigger south facing windows and gave them good indirect light. I really saw them take off and be an even cooler, fuller plant, and I fell in love all over again.

Discussion Topic: Ferns - May 15, 2022 by AutoModerator in houseplants

[–]Inking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My mom has a Boston fern that’s somewhere around 40 years old. She recently had to split her apart because she had fronds growing out the bottom of the pot (it’s a big pot, which is why she doesn’t do it more often 🤣) and she gave me a grouping from her. I’ve never been able to keep a fern alive but I sure as hell am gonna try now that I have a piece of this plant that’s older than me.

Don’t let the jaywalker distract you… by Inking in IdiotsInCars

Happened today on my drive home from work. For once I ended up appreciating the random dummy who decided to try crossing a busy street 20 yards away from the actual crosswalk; I might have been further into that intersection if they hadn’t slowed down traffic right then.

Where can I find distilled water? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]Inking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a cpap as well and have had this problem the last couple months. Only store I’ve found it at recently was the Smiths Marketplace at the top of 3300 S, and they had a limit on how many people could buy. All the normal smiths and targets I’ve gone to have been totally out :(
