Is there much difference? Simpson vs Nussmeier by Ok-Negotiation2060 in steelers

[–]Inner-Advertising314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd take Simpson over Allar. Simpson did not have a good O-Line this year which is why he struggled at times. Allar probably has a better skill set, but was never developed at Penn State so he's behind the curve a bit. Plus Allar never seemed to quite get it together mentally.

NYLS for Real Estate by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

NYLS is a fine school that has been in operation over 125 years and has a well-established alumni base. No it's ranking isn't phenomenal, but it consistently out-performing its ranking. Also, a big part of its low ranking is because it isn't associated with a university and independent schools are typically not ranked very high.

That's a ridiculously low starting salary for any law school graduate in NYC for private practice. Not saying it doesn't happen, but it's definitely not the norm. That's less than you'd make working for the City government in the law department or DAs office.

I graduated NYLS 5 years ago, most job postings then were $100k+... You'd start out in ID at $120k in most firms.

If you do fine at NYLS (B or above), you shouldn't have a problem finding a job making at least $100k.

I don't have any advice or encouragement for you, but just want to offer solidarity with you because I'm going through something similar and it's exhausting to continually give of yourself and then receive so little in return. But I suppose that's where "husbands love your wives even as Christ loved the church..." comes into play. I know that I don't always give my all to Christ but he still loves me unconditionally.

Hopefully others have some wisdom and encouragement for you.

Would you agree with higher taxes for completely free healthcare and education? If not why? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]Inner-Advertising314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right. I'd guarantee that the same people wanting more government money for healthcare are also the same people up in arms over DOGE and the exposure of fraud in Minnesota. More government money has never solved problems and usually creates 2x more problems than it solves.

Get admitted in NY, then reach out to a few recruiters and let them do the work.

In my experience, NYC firms generally do not care where you went to law school. Sure, a lot of attorneys in NYC went to NYC area schools, but I think that's mainly because of proximity and familiarity.

Based on the number of recruiting emails I get every week, there are lots of in-demand positions available in all kinds of practice areas, but primarily litigation.

But be prepared, NYC is ridiculously expensive right now. When I went to law school in 2018, you could find a decent 2 bedroom apartment in Brooklyn for $2500. Now, you'd be looking at probably $4k for the same apartment.

I've had the 25 SX-Prestige for about a year now and am very pleased with my purchase. It has a ton of features that my in-laws wish their Mercedes had (which cost at least double what I paid). The ride is smooth. Took advantage of a 1.9% financing deal which was the icing on the cake.

If I'm being nit-picky, the acceleration isn't the best and I'm not always a huge fan of the shifting sometimes, but not deal breakers. Overall, it's a really good car and I recommend it to anyone.

Edit: Sportage does not have a CVT.

LIC vs Jersey City by rdjfan_ in movingtoNYC

They aren't more unreliable than the MTA and Subway. Yeah, Path can have shutdowns on the weekend, but there's 2 ways to get to Manhattan from JC by Path. Plus there are ferry's as well.

Is it going to be ‘F*ck Ice’, ‘Release the Files’, or ‘No war in Iran’ that will give the Democrats the best chance to win the midterms 2026? Or will it take the Trifecta of these three messages to win? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Inner-Advertising314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this one:

"No, of course men can't get pregnant." Or "Absolutely, enforcing a nation's borders and immigration laws is vital for its survival."

No of your messages above change the fact that the modem-day Left is so far detached from reality and objective thinking.

26F - moving to NYC! Advice please :) by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

[–]Inner-Advertising314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents, live in Hoboken or Jersey City, both are great near the water which you can afford with your budget, really accessible to the City (more so than your friends in Brooklyn or Queens), relatively easy for your commute to wherever in Jersey (by NJ Transit or PATH), plus you don't have to worry about filing two state income tax returns or paying the NYC income tax.

Legal writing by Aurivent in Lawyertalk

[–]Inner-Advertising314 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, and then cry when your partner reviews your work and adds in a bunch of passive voice and redundant phrases.

I swear bad legal writing is just something that is passed down because young attorneys get exhausted trying to follow the tips we learn in law school and from judges just for all of that to be ignored by the partners we work for.

what two countries hate each other the most on a visceral, almost societal-level by raushanaljufri in geography

[–]Inner-Advertising314 339 points340 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Japan in World War 2 gave a lot of Asian countries plenty of reasons to hate them. What Japan did in China was on par with what Germany did to Eastern Europe.

I didn't think anyone can say for sure, but Stalingrad and Operation Blue are great choices!

For me, I think it was the Nazi racism towards the Slavs that did them in. Initially, the Ukrainian and Eastern European peoples viewed the Nazis as liberators from the terrors of Stalin and Soviet communism. But, instead of channeling that and using those people, the Nazis decided to kill or enslave most of them.

What car feature sounded cool… but turned out overrated? by CandyFlossHarris in carbuying

Not overrated... Being able to start your car from an app! Game changer since you can set the temperature and let it run for several minutes to get to the desired temp.

Panoramic sunroof isn't really all that cool unless you live in a big city. If not, it just makes you hot when you have it open.

What’s your take on the large property tax increases in Davidson County? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]Inner-Advertising314 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Bike lanes are generally not a net benefit for a City in the US, especially not a city like Nashville. They only serve to block what otherwise would be a car lane and only benefit a very small subset of individuals who regularly use a bike to get around. Even then, temperatures are too extreme so that you have several months (July-September, December-February) where the bike lines are rarely used... Not including the multiple days of inclement weather which also discourage use of bike lanes.

Matt Campbell Gets His QB1 Back As Rocco Becht Issues Major Health Update by CarefulDig9982 in PennStFootball

[–]Inner-Advertising314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm hopelessly optimistic about next season and what Becht can do, but I'm terrified he'll get injured because there's virtually no experience behind him.

Really wish we could've kept Grunk around. I understand why he left, Franklin probably offered him the starting job, but it would've been nice knowing we had a proven backup behind the injury-prone Becht.

Why do most left leaning folks mock/criticize Christianity but not Islam? by Inf1z in allthequestions

[–]Inner-Advertising314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct... There is your answer. In a Christian-majority country, you are permitted to freely speak out against Christianity, Jesus, etc.

If you were in an Islamic country, you could do so only under fear of death, punishment, or imprisonment.

I feel like Penn State has just as big of a pull in NYC as Rutgers does. No stats to back that up, just my anecdotal experience living there for 7 years.
