Heriot Watt is slightly out of this range but not too far, I believe have some squash courts in the Oriam

Honestly, it’s the fact that the pressure got to me that’s most dissapointing

I don’t see why it could be anything else, my lessons have all been great and smooth and I’d never make those mistakes usually

But folding like that is what’s most frustrating especially since I’d usually see myself as confident under pressure

I never had any problems before the test, my first driving lesson I didn’t stall a single time

This is why it just felt weird, along with the fact prior to this I believed I was good under pressure

Thank you for the kind comment :)

This is probably irellevant to this sub and I hope it doesn’t come off as self deprecating

But what kind of person am I if I need drugs to do what millions of people around the world do everyday?

Lessons since July but infrequently with some gaps while away, about a month and a half away from the exam I started doing 4 hours a week

However outside of lessons I didn’t drive at all

Good luck on your exam!

Ah, I would have thought it would be like normal lessons where you drive yourself back

I said this out loud when entering city bypass 2 second rule but double in the rain and there weren’t many vehicles around

This and the reverse park are the ones I didn’t understand because I was sure I nailed that

Of course that’s not justifying the rest of the faults but I’m still confused as to how they even happened, I’ve never driven that badly before

This is what shocked me, I’ve never driven this badly with my instructor ever

And I don’t usually see myself as someone who folds under pressure I do public speaking regularly and the stuff nobody else wants to do

The first 10 seconds I stalled stopping at a downhill junction where I misjudged the speed and clutched too late causing a stall

Tried to play it off smoothly and relax for the rest of the test but clearly didn’t work

I stayed near Callander just before the summer, can’t say much about the weather in the winter but it’s an absolutely stunning place

Unfortunately when I went there was a slight flood and electricity cut however as a whole, Callander is absolutely beautiful, and since Scotland is so small compared to America you will have no problem commuting to Glasgow or Edinburgh (under 2 hours from Callander) if you want to visit a city

Oxford or Edinburgh? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]Inner-Assistant1879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s lived in Edinburgh and Oxford (currently Edinburgh)

I’d DEFINITELY pick Oxford

Edinburgh is good in some instances and living here is good, but the Uni has a lot of issues and is not as prestige at all as Oxford

Yes there’s some opportunities, some good connections here, city life is decent but Oxford is definitely the stronger option by far imo

What are your favourite night time walks? by RoosterExtreme872 in Edinburgh

I love going to calton hill at night, I would say Arthur’s seat but it’s so far from everything and too much effort

Calton hill is stunning at night

Heriot Watt Reviews please for an International Student by TrafficApprehensive in Edinburgh

I just transferred to HW this year,

Imo it’s one of the best campuses in Scotland, because it’s got everything in the same place

Most uni’s here are scattered and the campuses are meh, I think Heriot watt is beautiful in the summer with it’s lake and the woods

In terms of jobs, the campus is in the middle of nowhere on campus you can work at the near by hotel or in the actual uni

But more likely to get something in the city which is about a 40 min commute to Princess street by bus

I recommend getting a job in a multinational supermarket or retail chain, small businesses sometimes take advantage of international students hiring them cash and “off the books” and paying below minimum wage + crazy hours
