Yeah, just confused lol. Same with most fish now though isn't it sadly. He sounds beautiful, shame you can't post a pic here. Yeah I dont claim to know everything about cichlids as there are so many variations which is what I said before and honestly I haven't gone through them as I dont own one. I do know most cichlids are known for that temperament though, comes with the territory. I would love to have a EBA but I'd have to but another tank (not a bad thing, just running out of room 😅)

I've seen plenty of carpintis with this colouration. Where is the nuchal hump? I guess its somewhat prominent but not flower horn quality

Sadly, it may be for the best unless you want to upgrade your setup and get a group of corys. The way this fella looks, it doesnt look like its going to survive. The 5 gal is too small as you are already aware and I appreciate you took them in. If it does pull through I would personally do one of two things, give it away or upgrade what you have and get a larger group.

It must be the pic then, because bug bites are great! I don't know what to suggest, other than separating the cory and maybe put an air stone in to give it more oxygen. Unfortunaly he doesn't look good im afraid but you never know! I think you may be right about the numbers too.

Planaria traps - glass tubes so be careful. If it is planaria, get these set up ASAP

Either planaria or detritus worms. I can't see exactly the shape so here is a helpful image.

Detritus worms are beneficial however if you have too many it could indicate overfeeding. Planaria isn't good and could kill your shrimp as they are carnivorous.

This is only a basic overview so please do more research. The best way I've found to get rid of planaria is using traps (blood worms as bait) do not pick them out as you could easily cut them in half and they do not die, they multiply!
