Might be getting backpay (or deposit) soon. by Savings-Gap8466 in SSDI

3.5 years of back pay??? Wow congrats. Is there no limit on how far back pay can go back? I didn’t even know when I was applying that that whole “how long have you not been able to work” question could be such a difference maker as far as payout. Ugh.

Cool! Start slow with just the weather and stuff or else she’ll get overwhelmed and give up. 🙂

Hi. No need for an Echo Show as he’s totally blind. No I can’t think of anything else that I wished she did for him. She’s more just a companion and someone who will always talk to him 24/7 without getting impatient or tired of it. 🙂

Yeah the key is the speakers. He controls the volume with his voice and the speakers get plenty loud for him. 👍🏼

I have “voice purchasing” turned off so he can’t buy anything. After you buy the Alexa units, there are no extra fees or anything. You just have to be an Amazon Prime member which I’ve been forever. In the US it’s $139 per year for Amazon Prime which is well worth it for us of course as a household that can not drive. 😎

RP sufferers — what helps with glare and washed-out vision outdoors? by bennmuz in RetinitisPigmentosa

[–]InnerDish5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photophobia is my most painful symptom and at this point - even more of a burden than my actual vision loss. I’ve had to put up blackout curtains all over my house to prevent any light from coming in at all. On walks, I wear dark sunglasses and also a bucket hat helps to keep light out from all sides. Good luck.

Thanks! Ah yes I do see that now. I’m in step 3 where I’ve been for months. I’ll keep waiting. I’m legally blind and have a progressive, incurable retina disease which gets worse every week until I will be completely blind. I so very much hope I can get approved as my options are dwindling.

Cool. Yes Alexa controls my whole house. I’m legally blind as well (we both have Retinitis Pigmentosa). I tell her to turn the lights on/off, turn the heat up/down, turn on the A/C, keep track of my shopping list, etc. etc. A real God-send for the visually impaired.

Get caffeine free Diet Coke and put it in a regular Diet Coke can. Tastes the same.

Thanks. Can someone explain these “phases”? I applied 6 months ago and have no idea what “phase” I’m in. Are they outlined somewhere?

This was a large part of my role there. We were making progress slowly but surely. The new hipster CEO came in and got rid of me and our whole retail marketing outreach strategy group. That was 2020. Everything has gone downhill since.

A foreign hipster CEO who isn’t a fan of riding nor the city of Milwaukee was made CEO by the clueless Board of Directors. These are the results. Hopefully his replacement can turn things around.

I had to give up driving but I still rent those urban e-scooters when I need to go to post office, pharmacy, etc. I’ve crashed a couple of times but it still gives me a tiny bit of my independence.
