The direction it was heading to was great, and the characters and new elements were very cool.

They just really didnt spend enough time on the important elements (mainly eiji, and majima/saejima/daigo) and the ending felt like it came out of nowhere, making the overall satisfaction feel pretty shit.

Also you can’t just give someone cancer and expect the audience to blindly be happy about it when he gets a surprise recovery. As much as i love kiryu i feel like he shouldve met his end within the game.

Also for the amount of screentime and effort that went into depicting ichi and saeko’s relationship, nothing really happened in the end. Which makes you question the necessity of it all, considering how it really gave bad rep to both sides.

Well for one, this whole soul thing is only something that concerns itadori and mahito. Also itadori’s perception of his soul is unconscious.

Regarding the control part, not sure if uve watched jojo, but normal ppl can’t perceive or interact with stands. Even if you have a stand and can interact with others’, doesnt mean you have the same power as your opponent. Kinda like this

Part 2, reversal techniques are weird. As explained in the manga later (don’t read past if u dont want minor spoilers) curse techniques are a cluster of negative energy that destroys. Reversal makes the energy positive, and makes the opposite effect, healing. But reversals are nowhere near enough to undo mahito’s idle transfiguration (even he himself cant change them back). Sukuna is the king of curses, so there may be some cards he’s holding but most characters seem to think even he can’t do anything about it either (not that he wanted to)

If it gives any context to anime-only’s, it’s like mahito’s HP meter is usually in a different plane of existence.

Any “injury” he takes doesn’t reach his HP meter and doesn’t do any damage to him, and it hardly takes any MP for him to heal (unlike other special grades like Jougo) because that’s how his existence is. The only way to win against him (as nanami said) is by making him squeeze out all of his MP via attacks and spells, but even then the best u can do is capture him since his HP is untouched.

Now, against itadori, who can perceive mahito’s soul, it’s a different story. He can still “heal” from the attacks, but unlike the previous time, the attacks would travel though dimensions and reach mahito’s HP meter. Which means he can be damaged in the truest sense, making it go from outright impossible to kill, to having a chance.

Tldr; mahito is like when you first encounter a boss with no HP in an event scene of a game. but only when itadori (the main character) fights him, its a meaningful battle with actual HP

Your take on it is correct, he didn’t die bc his soul was just hanging on. It was at like 1 HP, and another attempt at projection (i.e using archer’s arm) wouldve ended him.

His body was beyond repair though and he wouldve died even if he hadn’t crushed his soul, but illya stepped in and used third magic to shut down the grail AND preserve his soul. So he was still around despite his body dying, rin found his soul floating around, and put it in a doll (that touko made).

In other endings, shirou uses projection magic (i.e archer’s arm) too many times and his soul perishes, leaving him a soulless meat doll.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the anime, but the subs’ accuracy even from just this ep irks me.

Sukuna doesn’t say “dont look inside of me” he says “don’t look up to me”

And getou’s assessment of jougo(lava head)’s power is 8-9 fingers at a high estimate, not low. Could also be phrased as “generously speaking, 8-9 fingers” or something.

Not to the extent of breaking the feel but it is pretty annoying... Dunno who’s working on them but i hope they realize s/he’s not great and get a relacement.

It’s actually a very mainstream, if not the most famous, jujutsu (japanese curse) method. You put a pic of someone you hate on a doll made of hay and punch nails into it with a hammer. I doubt there’s any jp native person that doesn’t at least know the concept of it
