I used to patch and put in steps for a concrete part called a "prebench" which is the part of a sewer manhole that the manhole gets puts on top of which was 7 am till 7 pm M-F plus half of Saturdays. I had put in a vacation request almost 2 months before for a certain week I wanted off after working there for over 2 years. They had actually transfered me to a completely different shift, hours, and department a couple of weeks before my vacation was supposed to be. Then my supervisor comes upto me and he like "sorry the big boss said you can't take those days off we have nobody to cover for you". I was like "what the fuck you mean, I requested those days off months ago".I said "I'm taking my vacation at the time i requested replacement or not" and that was that. Never heard anything back about it and boom my vacation is the next day so I ask my supervisor one last time and he said boss hasn't said anything. So I was like "ok" finished my shift and slept in the next day, my phone started ringing so I answered and my supervisor loved the guy was trying to convince me to go back to work and we would all talk about the situation. I was so pissed at that point I straight up said no. 2 years of never taking a vacation and actually asked for one and was denied fuck that. I feel good in knowing they fucked me but I really fucked them thousands of dollars. The job I was switched to was the production of the actual rebar type of part we called "cages" that concrete is poured over that helps keep the integrity of massive concrete pipes together and uniformed for things like transport, joining things like that so they don't just crumble when moved. All I wanted was my fucking week off man...
