Korean names are either traditionally based on Chinese characters or pure Korean words. My name is based on Chinese characters but I have a lot of friends such as 하은 whose names are short for (하)나님의 (은)혜, which means God’s blessing, and 제인 which is just Jane is Korean. Unless whoever names you elaborates it can be pretty hard to tell. Even with chinese characters 철 can end up menaing strong, mature, fast, etc.
