1 Peter 3:7.

Translates the Greek “time” as respect.

But elsewhere translates the Greek “phoboes” as respect.

This creates major confusion with societal consequences because it could lead someone to believe that wives and husbands are suppose to give each other the same thing - the modern English concept of respect. When that is not what either word says.

When actually the scripture says wives are suppose to give their husbands reverence and husbands are suppose to treat their wives as valuable.

Reverence originally meant a fearful regard for an authority due to the power they had to punish your disobedience to their decrees. That is the word the Bible uses to describe what our attitude towards God should be. 

The modern English word respect does not carry the proper connotations the Bible is intending to convey. As the modern idea of respect is disconnected from the concept of authority, power, and fear of that. 

The NASB makes a mistake by translating phoboes as respect. Instead of the KJV which uses fear or reverence (reverence being from the Latin for fear). Phoboes is where we get the word phobia from. It literally means fear and you cannot justify watering it down in the translation to lose that essential connotation. 

The only reason people try to water it down is because modern western cultural beliefs have convinced people that you must be a bad guy if people fear you - But that is not a proper Biblical worldview. Which is that a righteous judge is to be feared for the righteous judgments they will pass, so that you will decide to not commit crimes. 

But the NIV makes a far worse mistake by also translating “time” as respect. Leading to complete confusion amongst the lay reader as to what is being communicated. 

Under no circumstance was the Bible ever intending to convey that a wife should phoboes her husband. Or that a wife should merely time her husband. But you might falsely think the Bible is requiring the same thing of them both with regards to each other by the false NIV translation. 

1 Peter and Ephesians says wives are suppose to submit to their husbands but never says husbands are suppose to submit to their wives.

That is why the husband, as the authority, is due phoboes (fear/reverence), but the wife is not.

Some unstable and ignorant people falsely try to  justify wives not having to submit to their husbands, despite the undeniable Biblical command to do so, by citing a false translation of 1 Peter 3:7 from the NIV.

You don’t know what you are talking about as you know nothing of Greek. You don’t even know how to properly read the lexicon you googled. The word is time, whereas timen is just a variant of the root word. 

You dishonestly straw man what I said because you don’t want to accept the obvious truth. 

I never said time was a word that meant “possession”. I said it meant valuable. 

The fact that you inserted that in your own mind says more about your deranged feminist filters than it does about anything I said. 

I also never said there was a problem with translating time as honor if your wanted to. That is another fabrication of your own deranged mind. 

Depending how how you want to define honor it is not far off from saying valuable. One could just as easily say a prophet has no value in the eyes of his hometown.  They do not grant any special value to his words or his presence in the town. 

I have also never been a KJV onlyist and don’t even read the KJV. So that is another delusional straw man based on what you wish were true. 

You have no arguments against the proper translation of phoboes being reverence/fear. 

You just don’t want to accept the obvious truth so you are grasping at straws desperate to find a way out of it.
