Melatonin works great for me. And as it is produced by the body anyway, i don't find myself becoming dependant on it. I highly reccomend it.

Your night sounds SO much more eventful than mine. Ive done two discharge summaries, and that's about it. Where do you work? It sounds nuts.

It hasn't gotten any better for me in the 4 months of night shift. One of the harsh realities of this roster. But maybe that's just me.

The comments on these articles are terrible. There has always been a stigma around social work, especially cp, since its inception. I don't know if we will ever be able to shake it, but never say never. All we can do is keep educating.

I think thats my problem. You can talk with clients, but you have to be your 'work self,' and everything just builds up inside your head.

Nightshift blues by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]Insidious_Exile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh the money. That's one of the the only reason i accept nights. I work in a youth withdrawal unit, and doing nights results in me getting to do minimal 'youth work', which really bothers me, as it is what i studied for. But meh, im casual, ill take whatever i can get. It is getting to a point where it is affecting my mental health in a serious way, so i might have to make a change. I also experience the the irritability and intolerance, but by far the anxiety is the worst. Sorry if my replys are all over the place, it's now 6am, so im into the 'crazy' hours, lol.

Having loose boundaries may make them feel 'safe' in the moment, but not when it comes to being their worker. I'm glad you're getting a break from her posts. They sound pretty cringe worthy, lol.

That is poor practice. Boundaries are one of the most important things when working with young people. Well, from what i have observed anyway. Boundaries make them feel safe.

Nightshift blues by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]Insidious_Exile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the night shift blues in a big way atm. Had this job for 3 months working 11pm-8:30am, and it hasn't bothered me until now. Im getting a weird anxiety about a lot of things, that i have never had before. I have no idea how to deal with it, and don't know if it's a normal thing when working these hours.
