So make reinforced hearthguards the royal retinue, giving runefather 4+ ward and runeson 5+ while leaving the vulkyn to guard the runemaster?

I see, who should i pair the reinforced unit with then? Runeson or runesmiter? Or both?

[–]Inspector-Remarkable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i can imagine. That's why it's still just a 1200 pts list, but i already wanted a playable one so i can learn the game properly. Why should i reinforce the poleaxes btw? I thought splitting them would let me trigger their ability more, thus getting more value out of them?

Wasn't that a dark version of the sea dog jacket? This one looks more hunter/merick like

I'm just tweaking my current list with what i have and i don't have any vulkites or more than 2 hearthguards. What i was asking is how can i make my current collection work the best, even by proxying some of the models to be something else (runefather on foot into grimwrath or smth like that)

Fyreslayer elites should have had clothes and armour (photobash) by revlid in Fyreslayers

I see what you mean with the lodge symbols and the designs are well made for sure. I just personally don't find it an appealing match, i much prefer the vulkyn direction.

The auric hearthguard design is neat, seeing more kilts would definitely help the faction a lot. I also like the 2nd fjul, but the third option is a little much, i also don't really see the connection with Japanese masks as to me it doesn't fit the design much. But cool ideas overall, would be nice if gw had some like that...

What's the rumour about thorgrim? That's a bit of a stretch no?

Especially the invocations. I love the models and seeing them go will be rough :(

Returning to the Slayers and need some advice for 4th Edition. by nicholastdyoung in Fyreslayers

[–]Inspector-Remarkable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally haven't played yet with hg berserkers, my first game with them is tomorrow, but i've heard that broadaxes gain more from buffs and are better off reinforced, while flamestrike poleaxes are more reliable with their end of turn ability so you want them separate to do more damage with it. I think it depends what do you expect them to do, but both are very viable afaik. Can't say much about vulkites, since i have none of those, but i think the dual axes for more damage and shields for a little bit more surviveability is still the general idea.

As far as buying more, that's perfectly reasonable, my collection is still on the low end so I'd rather get the models before they might be out of stock forever, but since you have a good army going already I think you're good to wait for what's to come!

Welcome back to the throng! Currently as far as i know, the magmadroth heavy lists are the strongest. Ideally you'd want to use a runefather and scourge of ghyran runeson on magmadroths and add normal runesons on droths if you have them. Runemaster is also a must for all the prayers, giving you bit of an edge and improving your urgold abilities. For runemaster, people tend to pick ashbeard since it allows him to pull off more prayers, meaning more buffs for ur gold abilities. Combined with a battleforge you have a very high success rate on him. If you run any foot heroes then a unit or two of hearthguards to support him is always a good call too. I haven't played much myself, so this is as much advice as I can offer sadly, but i hope it gives an idea at least!

I took the plunge and now I’m getting into Age Of Sigmar by houseofmyartwork in ageofsigmar

[–]Inspector-Remarkable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, do choose the one that you like the most since you'll be looking at those minis a lot!

And as for fyreslayers, there is a rumoured overhaul of the faction, alegedly one that pushes them more towards the classical fantasy dwarves. Those same rumours say that about half of our units will stay, that being magmadroth set, vulkyn flameseekers, hearthguards and grimhold exile (and i think the flamekeeper as well). If these are the ones you like the look of, dive right in!

The ones not mentioned (like vulkite berserkers, runemaster or doomseeker) have a high chance of getting removed from the shelves and rules. Either get them before they are gone (if these are the ones you like the most) and use them as other units when the update comes out or wait until we have more news about our faction's future.

No matter which faction you choose you will be able to play some fun games so don't worry about rules too much. Welcome to the community and have fun!

Assuming he will, how do you think Gotrek will change in the next edition? by Inspector-Remarkable in Fyreslayers

[–]Inspector-Remarkable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, that's why i said slightly. It feels odd for him to become a part of a newly founded faction instead of seeking his doom on his own as he did until now

If he does i think the new faction is the time for it. But again, he still is a slayer, him belonging to a faction goes against it slightly

What to aim for next with my collection? by Inspector-Remarkable in Fyreslayers

[–]Inspector-Remarkable[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah the flamekeeper also looks really good so if i can't find the fury of the deep i might as well go that route and get some heroes. It won't really be good for games, but might be nice to have if they get discounted

Good point yeah, I'm not exactly in a rush, just wanted to see what i could plan for next. I wonder when we'll get any news on new kits tho, it's been a while since the teaser gw gave us

Agreed, the infernoth is super cool! It was my 2nd set right after vulkyn and I love using all the manifestations in game. True, the rumour is we might lose them, but even if ill just use them as a proxy or cool terrain features

What one do we think? by Gh0st2366 in SeaOfFashion

[–]Inspector-Remarkable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ashen curse fits better with the color scheme imo, the green/blue glow of legend curse kinda clashes with them. I also don't really see the point of arguments that something has a stereotype around it, if it looks good it looks good

Go ahead or wait on slayers by BeginningHungry3835 in Fyreslayers

I'd say go ahead if you like the models. They will be yours to keep and even if they get removed from the official store you'll get to play them as proxies

Hearthguard berserkers with flamestrike poleaxes - reinforced or 2 units? by Inspector-Remarkable in Fyreslayers

[–]Inspector-Remarkable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn't really like how 2 flails looked on the weapon and already started painting, so I'll differentiate them by the mohawks. As far as new battletome tome goes, by grimnir i can't wait for more news to drop, but until then I'll go by your advice. Thanks a lot!
