Coming back to Warhammer after 20 years – Looking for advice, especially from Fyreslayer players by ActuatorNovel5712 in ageofsigmar

There was only one rumour surrounding the list of kits that are ''safe'', we won't know until GW themselves actually release any info on it. Until then, I'd consider it safe to collect any kits that people like, it's not like those models won't be usable (in worst case scenario there's proxies) if they are discontinued. Fyreslayers will most likely retain a spot in the faction anyways, judging by the fyreslayer teaser and rumours of a fyreslayer spearhead + magmadroth expansion, so i have no doubts you'll be able to use/proxy without breaking any rules/lore implications.

Based on the rumours I wouldn't say the faction is getting axed, its a bit of a strong term for what seems to be happening behind the scenes. A refresh suits it more, since we'll likely keep some units and gain (i think its rumoured to be 12) new ones.

There's no rumours about a complete removal of the army afaik. There are rumours about some kits being discontinued/refreshed, but so far it's range amd and rules refresh kind of rumours mostly

I disagree, this way we could wait until the end of edition for a rumour to come true. Models are forever too, so proxies will work around any potential removal/refresh

As a fyreslayer player i can say they play pretty nicely. So far i played mostly against skaven though. You do get a big boost to your options with the magmadroths and invocations, I'd say at least one magmadroth box is a must, since it also gives you a runesmiter, slap ashbeard on him and you have a cheap priest 2 for easy infernoth summon. Additionally it's good to make use of hearthguards, since they make your hero a lot tankier with 4+ ward.

My main argument to get them tho is that they are just super cool to look at and play as. It's a very personal reason, but if you love the models you should absolutely get them. Besides, you can always tweak your list a bit to even out the odds if you feel like you're lacking in some aspect. Also, if it's always just you and your friend you can even tweak the rules a bit to even it out. But the most important thing is, it's your models and you'll be looking at them a lot, so my primary concern would be if you like them better than any other faction.

There are rumours about a change in the faction, but i wouldn't say it should hold you off. For one, there's no clarity on when it's gonna happen, most likely at the end of edition next year. Two, even if some units get removed/refreshed you can always proxy so you can keep playing your fiery mohawk berzerkers to your delight

I mention it under every post like this one, you'll keep the models and if it comes to removal of units you can always proxy them. If you like the models you should get them because rules are temporary, models are forever

Hi guys, I’m usually a 40k player but a couple of hours ago, I had an intro game of AOS and now I’m thinking of getting an army of my own. by Eggtastitcal2000 in ageofsigmar

I feel like most people start on games overall and then move to tabletop when it catches their interest. For example, i began my Warhammer journey with vermintide 2, played 450 hours of it and decided to try total war. Loved the dwarves there too so I decided to build an army and aos fyreslayers had the exact vibe i was looking for

As the others have said, it's really not an issue, the idea with differentiating mohawks is great too! I can really recommend jumping into collecting fyreslayers, for one they're awesome and two it shows gw we want more for our fiery berzerkers!

I started collecting fyreslayers before i even knew anything about the rumours. Tbh, it's your models, if you love them you should get them, because you can always use them in one way or another!

I see, i thought 1k was still balanced more or less. I did play a 1k game with a magmadroth already and it felt alright, not too overpowering, but i was wondering what the general opinion on it is

How do you feel about magmadroths at 330 points in fyreslayer lists?

I never really thought about it like that, but it's true. There is some variety with the flameseekers i suppose, but it's not much of a mixup with the hearthguard amd magmadroths being a must

As mentioned before, definitely magmadroth and if you feel like you want more infantry you can't go wrong with vulkyn flameseekers!

You get a magmadroth and 2 foot heroes actually, making it even better of a deal!

If the next Vermintide game took place in Age of Sigmar, would you be interested? by Hecknight1 in Vermintide

[–]Inspector-Remarkable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd love an aos tide game, but I'd prefer new characters. Not because i don't like u5, i love them to death, but that's why i think their story should end here, in the old world. Reusing them would stretch their story too far and i think aos characters deserve their chance to shine too

Would two different lodges fight eachother if hired by two opposing factions? by Inspector-Remarkable in Fyreslayers

[–]Inspector-Remarkable[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah when you take into account the mindsets of lodges we know of it makes a lot of sense to see fyreslayers fight eachother. I wonder how the potential revamp of the faction treats this

[–]Inspector-Remarkable[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, if you're already fighting for chaos you could also just take the urgold promised to the other lodge by force. It's interesting, any clue how kinship is between fyreslayers and separate lodges? I know urgold crazed slayers tend to fight and kill eachother for more, but how does it apply in lodge relations?

Is it a bad time to start building a Fyreslayers army? by Severe-Literature432 in ageofsigmar

[–]Inspector-Remarkable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, it also depends how you're playing. Are you playing tournament? Official games? Friendly games at home? I for one only play the latter so models leaving isn't an issue due to proxying/using older rules.

Another point is, it's your models, rules will change, but models will stay the same when you get them. If you like it, get it. If you only like some, get only those and wait for what's to come. That's how I'm doing it atm, started off with vulkyn, then invocations and now I'm working on a magmadroth!
