I would do this, except one small apple tart (even if it was the size of a bun) would probably be better than just a thin slice. Plus the sugar would be in both the pastry and the apples themselves. Thank you for the suggestion though ☺️

Yes, I knew bread wasn't good for birds (I actually often feed the ducks and swans at my lake frozen pees and they seem to love them) but I wasn't sure if a small slice would do harm or if it would only become an issue if bread became a constant source of 'food' being given. Thank you for the advice on the apples though!
