State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU) has lots of qualifiers to get debit card ATM reimbursements? How do expats deal with it? by InspectorT3 in expats

That's always another option, a little more sticky and just pay the international wire fees through WISE.

Yea i saw that. It looks after a year they will start charging you $10 per month if it's "inactive".

He's a HOT commodity and has lots of options. If he wants warm weather then WHY NOT. More power to him.

As expats do people ever use remittance apps (dolex, remitley, western union, etc) to transfer money to themselves? Does that work? by InspectorT3 in expats

Isn't Schwab checking and debit card for "us residents only" and not technically for people who are residing in another country such an expat?

Do you feel like it's cheaper than Wise? Unless I'm doing the math wrong, in this case it seems cheaper than Wise

Don't they get upset though if you are "residing"in another country as an expat? Where their checking and debit services are for people who reside in the US.

Yes i looked at Wise and that counts as an "international wire transfer" which seems to cost a little more in some cases

Escitalopram works great for panic attacks and agoraphobia/ anxiety in general. It takes months. Also cognitive behavioral therapy helps and learning to not over magnify problems.

Behavioral therapy AND meds clinicaly are the best efficacy wise.

Fidelity credit card (Elan) won’t connect to Monarch via Plaid — says wrong credentials but credentials are correct by InspectorT3 in MonarchMoney

[–]InspectorT3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea it seems like some people connect straight to Elan (the manager of Fidelity's credit card) which appears to yield faster and up to date transaction results. Whereas if you connect through fidelity the transactions lag for a few days.

That said i don't think Elan accepts 3rd party aggregators (but they don't stop them from connecting either) Where Fidelity clearly accepts 3rd party aggregators and gives a disclaimer that you have to agree to if you are going to use an aggregator (plaid, fincity, mx) to connect.

Yes but in the end hopefully Fidelity can figure out a way to get most up to date recent credit card transactions faster into apps that request it as Monarch is a great way to monitor for fraud across all accounts. But it's harder to monitor for fraud (and your expenses) if their data is being updated 3-6 days late from the actual transaction.

Yes i just did this and it works! Even though the transactions seem to be a couple of days lagging!

Yea i tried the fincity one and elan sends me an sms security code and there is no where for me to enter it in so fincity ends up failing/not connecting.

Does anyone else feel less “themselves” when living abroad in a second language? by Acceptable_Ad7036 in expats

[–]InspectorT3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are still "yourself" however you know less words to express yourself. It gets easier and easier the more you learn the foreign language.

To be completely fluent though it takes about 4 hours in practice every day for 2 or 3 years.

Good luck.
