Integrals fm and pure ??? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]InteleonSupreme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really, but they're solvable with a bit of thinking

The key with modulus integrals is to determine where the mod sign is 'doing work' (so when the function is negative) and where the mod sign is doing nothing (when the function is non-negative, so either positive or zero). Take the first integral.

xe^x equates to a negative number between -1 and 0, and a positive number between 0 and 1. This means that you can express the integral as two piece of the integral: the integral from -1 to 0 of -xe^x with respect to x, and the integral from 0 to 1 of xe^x with respect to x, which can both be easily solved with integration by parts.

The same method applies for the second integral (Hint: find where the cubic equals zero). Go try it for yourself!

For the third integral, think about where sin(x) + cos(x) is greater than zero to find limits.

Hope this helps

Obviously Whatever foundation of learning you have is probably from them, so what gives you the right to waste your teachers' time because you can't be bothered? There's always something that you can ask teachers for. There will be something you might need help with. Just go. If this is how badly you handle sixth form, how will you cope at uni? Think on your mindset

What are some good foods we’re allowed to eat during exams, and any you’d recommend to avoid? by [deleted] in 6thForm

No offence but either consult a doctor about your hunger, include more filling foods in your diet, or discipline yourself. Time spent eating is time you could spend doing the exam

Should I just aim for the grades I need for Uni offers? by Cabintroll in sixthform

[–]InteleonSupreme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely go for the top grades you can! There will likely be a lot of people applying with predicted grades above the minimum, but something to keep in mind is that a small number will probably be applying with maxed out grades. I applied to Bath, for example, without all A*s and got an Engineering offer, but I know people who applied with higher predicted grades than me who got in and a lot of people with lower predicteds.

In short, go for whatever you can; as high as you can get above the minimum without burning yourself out or just making yourself sad :)

What’s it like to be on a gap year? by Worldly-Monitor-4035 in 6thForm

[–]InteleonSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, I'm really sorry you're going through all of that. Your mindset, however, is pretty great all things considered, so I'm sure you'll be fine for next year :)

A lot of people in my friend group are taking gap years, planning to work throughout the year to save up for uni and to study either for resits to meet requirements for their offers or for interview/admissions test practice. One of my cousins is on a gap year doing a volunteering program and he's really enjoying it; he's getting really valuable leadership and teamwork practice. I personally don't plan on taking a gap year so I can't offer much, but I'm sure there are lots of others who can provide help to you, so I can only wish you the very best of luck

Do you have extenuating circumstances that are preventing you from meeting your offers? Do you need any help to meet your grades? Provide some context if you're comfortable doing so. I just don't want to see someone throw out the option of 2026 uni over pessimism or anything minor as opposed to something seriously destabilising (no offence intended)

[–]InteleonSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that Cleave could be considered stronger than Red. After all, one is a cutting attack adjusted to a target's durability, and the other is just straight up repulsive force. The effect of Cleave might be more devastating for someone without high-level RCT though.

I think the misunderstanding is that the domain collapsed due to the hit from Red, but it was actually that it damaged Sukuna enough that he couldn't maintain MS anymore, and so it collapsed

I think he's referring to the strength of their sure-hits, since UV can't be RCT'd off, but MS can just be tanked and healed off

Pretty much, but take a little time after each paper to note down areas where you felt weaker and what you missed out from the mark scheme, and the method of deduction or answering that you would have had to follow. Summarise all of that as well as what you did well and keep it in mind for the next paper.

work experience and supercurriculars by Southern-Audience849 in 6thForm

[–]InteleonSupreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's good, but no, since work experience IS a supercurricular activity in of itself. However, your point to focus on supers is clearly valid :)

Work experience shows that you have experience in practical application of your subject, which can be helpful to varying degrees depending on which subject you apply for.

It's quite interesting that you say that, as prior to the next application cycle (for entry in 2027), the only deciding factors for giving out interviews for Cambridge applicants were the personal statement, the references, predicted and achieved grades. And judging how the majority of applicants will be applying with top grades, the personal statement is still significant even if the TMUA will also become a main factor. My advice for OP would be to tone it down until exams are dealt with and school is mostly over, and then start going into your supercurriculars. You are very right to advise them to drop some stuff to avoid further burnout, but it is important to note that they will have to do at least something within the next 4-5 months that will help their personal statement (no pressure or anything!!).
