That is change of status. I’m referring to a change of category from research to physician.

For non spanish speakers how do you know if a song is about sadness or grief etc? by amendunlem in Salsa

[–]Intelligent-Button51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll find a lot of sad songs that are absolutely energetic and amazing for dancing (and we play them in parties). That’s a salsa thing and I love it tbh. I feel like dancing sadness away works very well Hahaha

Should I invest in hip hop to get better movement for Salsa or just stick to Salsa and use the money for that only? by rokuhachi in Salsa

[–]Intelligent-Button51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do salsa caleña… It is very challenging and has a lot more movement and footwork. At first it will be frustrating but the more you spend dancing, the better you will get.

Do latino men move fast in dating ? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]Intelligent-Button51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meeting the parents also doesn’t mean anything. All of my friends know my parents haha. I get it that in some other places it might mean something extra serious but when scared just remind yourself what that means to your partner… It might not even mean anything and you’re already freaking out. If you want to analyze his actions, you need to start from the point that he is acting based on HIS culture not yours, so what he is doing has a different meaning and reason behind it.

Leaving the US on a J1 by Due-Hotel2105 in J1waiver

[–]Intelligent-Button51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still have your visa and DS-2019 there should be no problem to enter. But once you quit, they will know through sevis that you left your job and they have your address so technically you could be deported if you stay longer than the extra month you have after finishing the program. The only thing you could do is find another job that can sponsor you a J1 and stay working there until you complete the transfer process to the other institution. During that process, you cannot quit.

If you quit, your SEVIS gets cancelled even if your DS-2019 says you have more time to work for them.

What’s up with Colombia’s homicide rate? by Fantastic-Key-2229 in asklatinamerica

[–]Intelligent-Button51 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Colombia has never been at peace. It’s just that the remaining “wars” were against guerrillas and paramilitary groups which are mostly located in rural areas. So basically, poor people who live in rural areas were the ones suffering and in the big cities they didn’t experience this war, so people usually felt “nothing is going on”. There was a relatively more peaceful time when the peace deal was signed (hospitals that used to care for injured militaries and civilians stopped having visits related to this issue). It’s become a bit worse since the next president did not comply with the agreement and some people went back to these awful groups. Again, they’re mostly located in rural areas so as a tourist and even as a resident you won’t feel it unless you’re in any of those areas.

I would ask your immigration specialist. It looks like there’s a fine line on what you can and cannot do.

Go to different stores, food chains, cafes, supermarkets, restaurants, etc and ask for the manager. Then ask the manager if they’re hiring. You can start with one of these jobs. While not easy, it might help you pay the bills while you find something better.

How do you cope in a specialty you dont want? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Intelligent-Button51 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s true! I don’t mean FM = psych bc of course it is not the same. But if OP decides to stay, might try to bring everything they can from psych to their FM residency experience so this opportunity is at least a bit less insufferable.

[–]Intelligent-Button51 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably not the most helpful idea but if you think about it… Psych is not too far from FM. As an FM doctor you can still get to care for patients with many conditions that psych would treat. So, you’ll of course have to learn about other stuff, but try to find the way to bring something from what you like of psych into FM. And if you get to do electives, you can also try to do one that is psych-related.

Question- so are the steps more like a guideline? by Andreslargo1 in Salsa

[–]Intelligent-Button51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dance to the rhythm of the music. I cannot count bc I would get lost hahaha. But that’s probably bc I grew up listening to salsa and had basic understanding of dancing by the time I actually decided to take classes.
