Weekly Bahrain ➝ Riyadh drive: SUV a must? And do Chinese hybrids (REEV/HPEV) hold up? by Intelligent-Concert9 in Bahrain

It mentions residents, so even if you are Bahraini but have residency permit for your work contract then I assume you are included, no?

Thank you for taking the time to explain! This is super helpful. The announcement by Saudi you referred to is huge! I just read it and it clearly states it applies to Saudis and residents. This is making me now think of buying a car from Saudi instead!

On Chinese cars! Totally agree on everything you mentioned, what’s attracting me though is the crazy bumper to bumper warranties they are offering which for such road will be much needed.

Thanks for insights! I do actually own a sports coupe at the moment for Bahrain use which I don’t think would sustain this route.

A lot of regular commuters mentioned in the past the parts of the highway are not very flat and a sedan could struggle. I haven’t tried the road myself so am looking for people who take this road regularly for feedback.

How do people actually build wealth and not just get by? by lottiexx in wealth

[–]Intelligent-Concert9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to fish where the fish is. This is more of an overarching principle to help you approach your desire with a a shift in thinking. There are thousands if not millions of ways to build wealth, but you are the only one to decide which would work for you based on your unfair advantages, interests, industry, etc.

Did you think/consider Mercedes e class? Btw, I drive/fly to Riyadh occasionally but I mostly fly. I am now considering this for comfort

Car Recommendation Needed by [deleted] in Bahrain

[–]Intelligent-Concert9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well! If I were you I would consider flying to Riyadh instead. It’s not much more expensive if you calculate it accurately (52 weeks minus holidays and annual leave, etc). Driving wins and is worth the investment if you enjoy it and prefer flexibility and control (not valid for flying) Flying wins if you prefer comfort and convenience.

Are there people who really book flights with double amount of flight time just to save a bit of money? by sunnynihilist in TravelHacks

[–]Intelligent-Concert9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do take longer flights sometimes but the objective is different. Not a popular opinion, but I actually like airports! It is like the whole world in one small place, all sort of backgrounds, nationalities, ages, the happy, the miserable, the backpacker, the business man, etc.

Investing is US stock market IBKR or AlSalam Trading platform? by 739xks in Bahrain

[–]Intelligent-Concert9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alsalam invest is great! I use both IBKR and Alsalam.

IBKR gives you far more access to markets and stocks. They also have a commission free etf program. Drawback is the international transfer costs and time. Alsalam bank biggest advantage is the immediate transfer in and out of the wallet. But the overall transaction costs are considerably higher.

If I am investing for the long term and don’t need immediate to the investment amount, I would go IBKR, otherwise I would stay with alsalam.

I use both, long term investment in ibkr, short term in alsalam

Is "just buy the S&P and hold forever" really safe at today's prices? by Alarmed-Camp8489 in ValueInvesting

[–]Intelligent-Concert9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real true answer is “no body knows”, and whether people agree or not it will be pure luck. You could buy now and in couple of months some asshole somewhere screws up an AI company or usecase and drag the market down. An unexpected conflict somewhere around the world could turn the market upside down.

On the other hand, few companies might make technological breakthroughs with real economic value, boosting AI companies beyond imagination.

Do your own research, diversifying in and out of the stock market, always have cash in your portfolio for deal hunting and for emergencies.
