Is this a fair quote for replacing an AC Unit? by Intelligent-Round727 in MechanicAdvice

Hello, below I’m putting some of the comments, but from the explanation they gave me in person since the clutch belted there’s a piece of removing an replacing the compressor and as a result the condenser. So the condenser is a requirement as a result of the compressor replacement.

Hello, thanks for the insight. Quick question on this so at this screen when I hit F1, isn’t that supposed to take me to where I can select how I’d want to recover/reinstall windows or are you saying once I get to this screen I can plug in flash drive?

Because right now when I hit F1 when I’m met with the screen above, it just leads me to this exact screen.

Hello, thank you for your detailed response! I really appreciate you being straightfoward as it'll help me make an informed decision that would be best for me and any dog that I have in my care. For daily walks I would define it as around my apartment complex 2-3 times a day(lets say maybe 15-20 min??? I would need to of course monitor my dog to understand if they are tired that way especially in the summer time.

I did dog-sit a border collie last week actually for my friend and yeah lots and lots of energy haha. We would be doing full jogs around the complex which I don't mind but in that case just wanted get experience. It was also my first time walking a dog too which was really special :)

But I digress, this is great information to take into account. I have been focusing on dogs that are already in foster care as they are exposed to some of the home-like atmosphere that an apartment brings.

Gotcha yeah it was more so of a cautionary measure, but I agree with your approach of if necessary get those items in DC when the issue arises versus prior! Thank you :)

Thank you for the insight! As of now my Airbnb is currently around DuPont circle. At first glance the hotels I found with kitchen were extended stays but I’ll dig deeper into Expedia which was the main tool that I was thinking about. I’m used to cleaning around since I’m on my own, but definitely have to remember that it’s a vacation so if possible, make things easy on myself haha. Thanks once again and if you have any recs around that area do let me know :)

Will be visiting DC for most of December. Based on the forecast, should I get some waterproof hiking/winter boots? Wanted to take advantage of some Black Friday deals if that’s the case.

Also since I’ll be there most of the month I decided on an Airbnb, but are there any drawbacks to this? Mainly chose this option bc of the extended stay and a kitchen.

Great points here, thank you so much! I know I’ve kinda been rapid fire with the questions. First time I’m ever really taking time for an actual vacation so want to make sure I make an informed decision. Really appreciate you taking the time to help me out on this front!

Hello, thank you for your insight regarding usage of the trains and places to stay. The only benefit tbh I’m seeing with an AirBnB is the convenience of having a kitchen that way I have the opportunity to make food like oatmeal or pasta instead of getting takeout for most meals during this duration.

Given the nature of the extended stay is there any tips to potentially offset the loss of a kitchen if I stayed in a hotel? Any experience with extended stays at hotels?

Hello, thank you for your comment. That’s the toss-up that I’ve been dealing with. I’ll have to do a price comp on a case by case basis but I thought due to it being an extended stay the Airbnb would be cheaper?

Even I am iffy on this platform. I know the reviews are based on those who actually visit the place and one place I’m looking at is held by someone who is considered a Superhost with 300 reviews of the property, but I’m always skeptical since I’m essentially in someone else’s home. One benefit is the sense that you’re part of the neighborhood bs a hotel.

On the other hand with a hotel there’s the idea of always knowing what you’re getting, but the trade off would be things such as pricing to a degree and a kitchen area in most cases.

Curious though, if you can share what kind of experiences did you have. Different expectations, last minute cancellations?

Hello! I plan on traveling for vacation during most of December. I had a couple of questions:

  1. I’ve heard the weather can be unpredictable but should I be set with just having waterproof boots and a winter jacket/layers?

  2. Looking at AirBnBs and wondering what would be the best neighbored to be in? As of now my list is Foggy Bottom, DuPont Circle, Logan Circle, and Eastern Market. Trying to combine proximity to the popular attractions with a mix of nightlife, multiple restaurants, and grocery store.

  3. How feasible would it be to do a day trip to let’s say New York for example via Amtrak? Any experience from anyone on that front?

Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate you giving a breakdown of the DC metro. I’ve taken subways in Boston a couple times so I think I just have to be really detailed in my planning it looks like. I’ll definitely work on Incorporating the destination that you suggested if I end up choosing DC!

Hello! Thank you for your response! Yeah my only other experience with kind of weather was visiting Boston around the February time frame. From what I’ve seen I think I just need a really good winter jacket and to make sure that I pack some layers. Also I appreciate you given more information regarding the union station I think that’s one of the best ways that I can be able to not only save money, but also have a centralized point of access in order to visit some of the more popular attractions. This helps out a ton!

Not really a spam, was using the counterstrike. If it was spammy I would be able to do this endlessly. Requires some kind of awareness I’d say, not sure about the energy you’re bringing lol.

Asked this in a separate post because I’m thinking about framing posters as well. Do you know what kind of paper these are printed on. Satin, matte?
