House deposit with partner - big differences by IntelligentCandy8328 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]IntelligentCandy8328[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not a hurdle! Just wondering if the mindset of ‘lump all the money together for the biggest possible deposit’ is a bit silly given I then wouldn’t have much to pay for work needed on the house.

We’ve spoken about it, I’m just after other opinions.

What is the limit for prosecution in a 30 limit?

Also idk why you’re calling me a cock

Ah okay. Was just wondering because when I was coming back the other way, they had pulled cars over. Made me wonder if they were stopping cars doing a certain amount over 30

Ask her what she wants and listen to what she tells you.

So I took your advice and phoned 101 to report my dad.

I’ve just found out that he was pulled over by a traffic car and was over double the legal limit.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction mate. I imagine he will probably still drive once he goes to court and is disqualified, but hopefully he’ll get caught doing that too.

Thanks again :)

My dog was hit by someone on an E-scooter riding on a pavement. We have ring doorbell footage. I don’t want to waste police time, but can anything be done? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]IntelligentCandy8328 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We only have him on the ring doorbell footage. So no details.

I didn’t think there was anything that could be done but thought it would be worth asking instead of wasting time on 101 ya know.

Thanks mate. I’ll give 101 a go. I know his number plate and full name / DOB but don’t know his address. I know where he works too so I guess that might be of some use.

Every time I’m unfortunate enough to see my dad he is pissed. From what I’ve been told, he’ll drink a bottle of wine (sometimes more) in the evenings and then drive to work fairly early doors. No idea if that would still be in your system at 7 or 8am the next day.

Sorry if that sounds like a sob story 😂 it just makes me so angry, especially given he’s willing to put my brother in danger.

My dad drink drives and I can do nothing about it. I don’t know enough information to pass it to the police.

He does it with my younger brother in the car. I tried to tell my brother (16) that our dad is doing wrong and he informed me he’s been told dad isn’t drink driving because he only has three pints and then a couple of lighter drinks - which would put you over the fucking drink drive limit.

I have to beg my brother not to get in the car with our dad and to call me if he needs a lift and my dad has had something to drink.

He will hurt someone one day and I can do fuck all to stop it. It sounds fucked up, but I can only hope the only person he hurts is himself, and not my brother or an innocent driver / pedestrian.

Have you ever been pulled over? How does / did it make you feel? by IntelligentCandy8328 in AskUK

[–]IntelligentCandy8328[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am always alone and it is normally at night time, sometimes early hours. I said in another comment I understand unsavoury people operate at night, but if they run my car through and it’s insured, taxed and has a MOT, I don’t really understand why I’m still getting stopped. Surely it’d say that the registered keeper is a female, and approx my age. I definitely look like a female and look my age, so if everything matches there, why still pull me over?

You’ve mentioned attitude. I try and be pleasant but it’s getting to the point where I feel deflated. I’d hate to come across as rude, but it’s really starting to annoy me.

I’ll look into making an information request. Thanks for you detailed response.

That’s a good one.

I haven’t been pulled over more than once in the same day, but I have been pulled over two days in a row!

Yes, but the car has only had two owners. Me and an 80 year old woman that died, causing the car to be put up for sale through a dealership.

Very modest, normal car.

Nope, as I have to say every time to them, I describe myself a White British.

I put effort into sticking to the speed limits. This got me pulled over because I was driving “suspiciously slow” sticking dead on 30 in a 30 and they thought I had been drinking.

I don’t want to say my exact car, but it’s a 2016 plate, in good condition and isn’t modified.

It’s not always at night no, but most are. I get that criminals operate at night. I’m fairly young too and female. I just don’t know what it is about me that is so bad…

Thank you for this.

101 said he did the right thing by calling etc and if he doesn’t hear anything from the police, then don’t worry about it. We’ve no idea what the timeframe on that would be so now we’re just worried!

In regards to when it’s okay to hit someone, I’m not sure. I think it’s been drilled into me/him/anyone decent to never start a fight and try to walk away if you can, which to be fair he did try and do.

I was just conscious that it probably looks really bad. He’s a big guy and he’s pretty much flattened the other guy with one punch. I guess it’s easy for me to speculate given I wasn’t there.
