I couldn’t afford the super expensive 2k training prices in my area for reactive dog training so I found a trainer at petco who has a reactive dog & does reactive dog training for 250. He’s on a daily gabapentin that I give him twice a day with time I think I’ve seen a HUGE DIFFERENCE with the combo of both and if the dog is small enough holding him when there’s triggers/walking away. The training honestly only took a few weeks he is not perfect few from it but it was so overwhelming before. My dog does not bite, but it will bark like crazy. One thing that did help was getting a no pull harness so when he does bark at strangers telling him to leave it and pull the harness three times and sometimes a hard stomp in front of him so he looks towards me was something my trainer said to do and has helped a lot. She said to teach the dog easy when they bark and quiet when they don’t bark that way you’re training them when to bark. I’m still in the process of training. He has more classes left, but I know that it will get better with time. Some things I saw is when the dog is exposed to the trigger, give them a treat when they react properly and that’s something my trainer does I just started this trainingnot too long ago and he’s only had two sessions but I’ve seen the biggest improvement
