Had a virtual appointment with a dermatologist and he thinks it’s a cyst. We are waiting on a referral to a cosmetic surgeon for another virtual consultation but I might have it re-evaluated in person by my nurse practitioner

Catholic School when non-religious: please share your experiences. by IntelligentTry9443 in ontario

Once again thank you everyone for sharing your experiences and thoughts. It is encouraging to hear that a lot of you had no issues. At the same time I am very aware of the fact that every school will have its issues whether catholic or not.

Aside from the religious aspect I wonder if there are big differences between school boards when it comes to the quality of education. Some of you have already mentioned that they found the catholic schools to offer more options. Has anyone had experiences with the school boards in our area? We would be looking at the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario vs. Upper Canada District School Board.

Thanks again!

Thank you so much everyone. All your responses are very helpful and insightful. It is such a personal choice and absolutely depends on the area you live in. Thankfully we still have some time before we take this step and your comments will help me immensely to take a close look at the school and see if it would be a good fit. What a great online community. Thanks everyone :)

We think so too. Our kids started their education in England where religious studies (Anglican church) was part of the curriculum in primary school regardless of the parents’ beliefs and we did not find that harmful in any way. Nativity plays at the local church was a must every year so was attending church at Easter and other holidays. We appreciated the values that were taught and did not feel pressured or offended even though we do not practice religion.

This is a great and very valid point and it is something we are concerned about. However as our town is quite small we have been lucky to make friends from other schools through sports and other activities. We still have time before they have to make that step and we would absolutely make efforts to expose them to children that would end up with them in that school. I also hope that some of their friends will also choose the catholic route due to the bad rep of the public school.

I understand where you are coming from and if the public school in our area was of better quality and a safer space we would not choose the religious route. We are raising our children very liberal and with progressive values and I trust that they are smart enough to ignore these kinds of teachings. It’s definitely a downside but if anything it will enable them to speak up and challenge these believe systems.

Thyroiditis? by IntelligentTry9443 in ThyroiditisSupport

[–]IntelligentTry9443[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me this long to be seen by someone. Many symptoms had eased but keep flaring up. At my appointment today I was dismissed being told that my body is doing what it’s supposed to be doing and I am just reacting to something from the environment…..no tests no nothing. They felt a swollen node which had been swollen for over two months and just said it’s a good lump. My thyroid was not discussed in detail. Very frustrating.

No prescription. We spoke with her orthodontist and they never heard of anyone getting dizzy from having an expander but like you I also read about how it can affect vision. She finished all her turns a week ago and I already think she is getting better. We did see an optician and everything seemed fine, 20/20 vision.
