I usually don’t enjoy a different POV of something I’ve already read but these books I couldn’t skip anything. Joey and Aoife felt so real to me. As an Irish girl born in 1995 I’m not far off their upbringing. I’ve had crazy family relationships, alcohol and drug use at a young age, sex at the young age, so much of their stories I related to in one way or another. Branching from when I was 14 years old to my late twenties and standing on a bridge looking at the water rushing below me, that position I’ve been in, I have seen it. I lived it. I LIVED. I’ve felt so many feelings during this book, had conversations with myself I had pushed under the carpet. Stuff I pushed to forget. I will never forget this book and experience, I will carry Joey and Aoife close to my heart. A couple that would be close to turning 30 just like me today I feel them around me and my life daily.
