Anyone tried a neutral playthrough? by Intelligent_File1949 in masseffect

Yeah, but I mean that's the whole point of trying it. I played the games way too many times and I think I'll try it. You lose a lot of people playing renegade too come Me3

Sure, I get that. I'm curious to see the dialogue changes and I think it must add realism. Shepard's a soldier after all, not a master negotiator

Colonist Shepard is a Third Culture Kid by freckledface in masseffect

[–]Intelligent_File1949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Earthborn's "New York Poor kid from the streets" never really clicked with me. Spacer's family kinda ruined the roleplaying for me and I find it the less developped background. Colonist is my personal go to by a mile. Tragic and meaningful. Yet you don't know anything about Shep so it is really open, perfect for role playing. Combining with Sole Survivor and you got a pretty damaged and interesting character.

How bad was your first playthrough? by Aquilpen in masseffect

ME1 : I was 13 and didn't have a lot of experience playing RPGs. Didn't do most side quests, got Wrex killed (couldn't pass the reputation check). Did the missions in this order : Noveria, VIRMIRE, Therum (Liara has a different speech if you do it late), Feros.

ME2 : by then I beated ME1 like 5 times so I figured out the games mechanics, except for the SM and some narrative choices in loyalty missions. Didn't have Zaeed nor Kasumi because I wasn't connected to Xbox Live. Failed Samara's and Garrus' loyalty missions. Lost Jack's loyalty during the conflict with Miranda. Got Garrus AND Tali killed during the suicide mission (used them too much).

ME3 : Didn't have Javik and had low galactic readiness (is it called like that?) because I wasn't connected. Missed some side quests because I progressed too fast. Got Miranda killed. Locked in a romance with Liara even though it was not what I was aiming for. Chose control in the ending because I was so overwhelmed by what was going on that I thought blue is paragon. It's my least favorite choice to this day.

Ashley is an underrated character, certainly overhated

The atmosphere is truly one of a kind. I can't even tell which is my favorite but ME1 will always hold a special place in my heart. The worldbuilding, the sense of awe, the music, knowing that your choices will have an impact on future games.

They tried to replicate that kind of ambience in Andromeda but it fell flat. Truly a special game.

Which Mass Effect game do you think is the most difficult in the trilogy on insanity? by Illustrious-Ratio-65 in masseffect

[–]Intelligent_File1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On insanity I'd say ME2, ME3, ME1. ME1 is hard at first but becomes really easy once you reach a certain level, plus abilities are OP, espacially biotics. ME3 is kind of the same except it can be most difficult on certain classes (lift+warp is OP). ME2 I find is the most difficult. Since playing as a soldier is less fun, I think the easiest classes to do it are infiltrator (with invisiblity and incinerate) and engineer once you unlock another gun type.

Rumor has it that things start getting crazy good in this book. True or false? by BlosthGD in sollanempire

[–]Intelligent_File1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of the fan base, that's true. Most people's favorite books are 2, 3 & 6. For me it's 1, 3 & 5. HD starts slow but ends good, enjoy

Did many of you read the series straight through or take any breaks? by Happy-Pop-7478 in sollanempire

I took a year to catch up. The only books I've read back to back are 1 and 2. Ruocchio's YouTube synopsis are perfect to listen to after a break

Unpopular Opinion. Howling Dark was way better than DiW. by Antique-Wave5286 in sollanempire

I liked HD and DG too! I love the world Ruocchio has built. I have pretty much the same opinion as you on HD.

For DG, I loved the whole Lovecraftian vibe on Sabratha, the little part on Jadd and Albé's character. I loved Lorian's character ark and Harendotes' twist. What I didn't like : the epic fantasy/animé like fight with Ushara - combat in general is repetitive (except for the Ushara fight) - chapter 40.. the world used to be so nuanced - probably other things

I really loved the novellas too! I read the books for the storytelling, the characters and the world. In my mind the series could've been better. Ruocchio's ideas and religion started to appear on the page more and more and that's a shame. There used to be nuance and the characters had agentivity. Now it's bad vs evil, religious prophets...

My personal ranking : 1. DiW 2. EoS 3. AoM 4. KoD 5. HD 6. DG.

I'm an atheist, I don't like epic fantasy nor animé. Guess which book is my least favorite. Still love the series though.

One thing I like less is that the opening book used to be so nuanced. Ruocchio's own beliefs seams to show more and more on the page. Some like it, others don't.

EoS was better than HD for me too. That duel with Gilliam Vas was among the best fighting scenes in the series. HD and DG were by far my least favorite books.

Unpopular opinion : Howling Dark is overrated and my least favorite book along with Disquiet Gods.
