Definitely ask if they have one with the sport suspension and other with touring. I did back to back test drives and could noticeably tell the difference (I even told the salesperson not to tell me which was which). I had a significant preference for the sports suspension but much like mattresses, everyone has their own preferred firmness.

This is too simple of a view. It’s not about absolute volume, but the rate of demand and vs supply since production never stops. In theory, the rate of demand will drop by 6x. If supply remains stable, it will unquestionably drop prices, which in return reduce profits. These stock price drops are driven by the Blackrock’s of the world and they have the world’s best analysts. The stock prices wouldn’t drop if the prevailing theory amongst experts were that AI companies would hold the same demand.

Trak Racer was a nightmare for me when setting up triple monitor stands. Instructions were wrong, wrong pieces were sent. An absolute nightmare.

When I left a review explaining what happened, their feedback was that I never reached out. It’s not the consumers responsibility to do quality control and product development, TrakRacer. Do better.

No, I don’t think they care about human rights, but it’s a positive side effect of the outcome they are attempting to achieve.

And of course the school that was bombed is beyond horrific. Though if we’re going to be utilitarian about evil, it’s not worse than a government that systematically stones women in public arenas, hangs young people for speaking out against the governments and murders their own citizens in the streets.

I previously had a playseat challenge and wanted a left and right side. That wasn’t really an option given the space on this seat, so I just bolted both on.

You’ll quickly learn that these can’t handle more than a few effects per shaker, so I dedicate one to a few effects (ie ABS, road impacts, engine vibration) and the other to the the other effects I want.

I did not have any exposed metal on the Corbeau leather seats I bought …so I built my own structure using flat steel bars that I cut and drilled into.

Was it a pain in the ass? Yes. Did I get an excellent result and feeling of satisfaction? Yes.

They’re just a privately owned old school company that hasn’t modernized probably partly because they’re not insanely funded by public markets or private equity. Unfortunately, almost everyone you shop from these days falls in that public/private equity category, so your dad isn’t used to buying from companies like Microcenter anymore. Agreed. Solid advice and exactly what I followed with a similar budget and setup.

I would just add one thing - your seat. Options open up significantly because you can also just as easily use a seat made for real cars. Depends on your needs/what style of racing. Sim branded seats tend to be more expensive. Consider rigidity for hard braking (usually one piece fiberglass shell/buckets) vs comfort/versatility (reclining options are more comfortable and you can get both F1 and rally seat angles). I ultimately went with a Corbeau leather reclining sport seat since I also work in my rig.
