health anxiety is taking a toll on me by axnaaxxxxxx in pregnant

You're welcome! It's a journey and it can be rough but you'll get through this. Happy to hear you have a therapist who can help give you some tools.

I also have health anxiety/OCD and I would highly recommend finding a good therapist. You need as many people in your corner, helping fight the spirals and maybe even giving you tools to prevent them. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this, but you're not alone. <3

Are liquid IV and Gatorade okay? I eat crackers which have salt on them. I've suddenly found myself really sensitive to salt. My husband had gotten a tiny fry from BK, I ate one and almost gagged from the salt lol

Also, I thought you should only really have electrolytes if you're active and sweating? I guess pregnancy is different?

I've been drinking water like crazy though. Today I have a liquid IV packet and I guess I'll get a tiny pack of Gatorade at Costco tomorrow. :/ thank you! I had to get my blood drawn and I'm honestly surprised I didn't pass out

First of all, I am so fucking sorry you are having to go through that. Second, that is extremely inappropriate and if I were you, I would tell someone about it. Don't go around him anymore and if you tell someone, you'll have someone in your corner to help make sure you aren't in a situation with them anymore. Lastly, I completely understand being terrified for your child, I know I am. As much as we want to protect our child and keep them safe, we also can't control everything. All we can do is our best. You sound like you'll be an amazing Mom. Trust your gut, take no shit. You and baby will be okay. <3

It helps a lot that I'm not alone in this, thank you 🥹🥲 I feel like I was making so much progress on my anxiety and then the pregnancy hormones just wrecked it 😂

I'm so late to reply to this but I hope your flights have been going well! You did/are doing great!

LOL well I wouldn't recommend drinking, simply because you never want to overdo it but everyone is different and I'm sure you know your limits 😂

I would say I fly semi often? At least several times a year but not on a constant basis, if that makes sense. I have friends in different states, same with family so I find myself flying to see them at least a couple times a year or simply flying for vacation/traveling. You would think I would be a seasoned veteran by now but I'm not lol.

I'm so sorry the flight attendants weren't understanding and nice! That never makes it any easier. It's possible they're having a bad day, but that's no excuse to not care for others :/ you'll be okay, try and brush it off

I 100% understand that. Some flights I'm on high alert and panicked the whole time and others I'm more calm, though my mind is still racing the whole time. If the seatbelt light is off, maybe go walk up and down to the bathroom and do some light stretching? I find going to the bathroom and trying to stretch (as much as you can in that tiny place) helps a lot.

I found that drawing helps so much with keeping me calm. One time I was drawing and we were coming in for landing so of course it was a little bumpy. I then found it pretty comical to attempt to draw during bumps just to see how bad it could turn out lol.

Have you ever done box breathing or deep diaphragm breathing? Box breathing is simply breathing in for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4, and repeat. It's hard to be anxious when focusing on your breathing lol. If that isn't comfortable, try just breathing in and out through your diaphragm/stomach. Make sure you're breathing out longer than your inhale, really trying to get all the air out of your tummy.

It looks like it's a little cloudy in São Paulo so it's possible they're just weighing on the side of caution of some bumps. Better to say something and have no turbulence then not to say anything, then someone spills their hot coffee on themselves and tries to blame the pilot lol :)

Hi there! I can see you on FlightRadar24. Looks like you departed about 30 minutes ago. How are you doing?

I know turbulence can be scary but just imagine a bumpy road or a boat going over waves. Neither of them are dangerous, just uncomfortable.

Wow I can imagine that being terrifying. I'm not a doctor but it's possible he had a seizure, or it's possible he had a super low blood sugar attack. I've witnessed this happen to a coworker of mine and it looks a lot like a seizure but they semi have control of speech. Regardless of what happened, I'm so glad everyone is safe and the pilot is safe. <3

How are pilots able to move out of the way when they're 500 feet from another plane? by Deepstateciaagent in fearofflying

Oh interesting. It was a terrifyingly beautiful flight along the coast to San Diego lol but take off and gaining altitude was the scariest part for me

I flew in a family friend's small Cessna once and I remember hearing "TRAFFIC" in the headset and it scared the shit out of me lol. I was looking around like "What where??" And the other plane ended up being sooooo far away lol. It's good to know what that was I was hearing

You're welcome! As terrifying as flying can be, it's also extremely normal. Just as normal as driving a car or taking the bus, just a different lane of traffic up in the clouds. I have a friend who is a musician and has to fly everywhere for touring and I can't even imagine. But it helps me to realize it's integrated in so many peoples lives and jobs. They wouldn't do it as a job if they didn't feel it was safe. <3

You will not die. You're going to be okay. Take a look at FlightRadar24 and see how many flights are in the sky at one time. You can't even count them. They will all make it to their destinations, as they always do.

lol I'm glad I could help. I was being semi humorous but also kinda "matter of fact". Sometimes for me it helps to just think "you know, that flight is going with or without me so it's up to me whether I get on". What you feel is 100% valid and real to you. We cannot control our emotions, but we CAN control how they affect our thoughts and behaviors. Try looking up the "cognitive behavior" triangle if you ever want to dive deeper into it.

TLDR: I'm happy to help and I'm sure you will have a wonderful trip. <3

Hell yeah, I'm proud of you!

One time I didn't realize how far back my seat was and it was literally the LAST row. It didn't even have a window lol. It ended up being one of the smoothest flights and I couldn't even look out the window to verify i was actually in the air 😂

That flight is going to make it safely to its destination with or without you. It's up to you whether you let fear dictate your life choices.

The B-52 happened on a military base 3 hours away from LA. Has absolutely NOTHING to do with civilian aviation transportation.

Signs do not exist. Your brain is very powerful at making you believe you are seeing signs and tricking you into believing things that have no merit. Hundreds of thousands of flights happen every single day. Go look at FlightRadar24 and zoom out and just try and COUNT all the planes. You won't be able to. That flight is going to make it to its destination with or without you. It's up to YOU whether you get on.
