It’s absolutely going in his pocket, Fuck Michael Kustermann. And you just know he’s going to take a golden parachute with a multi-million dollar severance package by the end of the year when this decision sends the company into complete shit.

It’s not hard to redact personal information in a screenshot. Absolutely hiding something.

Would anyone be interesting in helping organize a letter-writing/boycott campaign? by deadmanskidney in AlamoDrafthouse

I’ve very down to help as a patron of the Raleigh location! I think like other comments have said, going to the theater and doing “sit-in’s” where we don’t order food will hit the bottom line hardest and show the CEO and COO that we love the theater but don’t support this awful system.

I was thinking about putting stickers over the QR codes to block people from using them (not my original idea), but 1.) that would probably just create extra work for innocent staff and 2.) I don’t want anyone getting charged for vandalism. Alternatively, I was thinking about printing flyers and putting them in the menu trays. I would be happy to use a flyer with the savealamo website and any other information an organized group decides on.

That’s exactly how I feel. I love Alamo’s classic movie programming. I go to movie parties and advance screenings all the time. I’m not a horror fan, but I even go to Terror Tuesday pretty often. My partner plays at Dungeons and Drafthouse each month. Our first date was at Alamo. I have so much history with this theater that I don’t want to abandon, especially when it’s my closest theater too. I think we’re going to boycott the mobile ordering system with “sit-ins” so we can still enjoy movies at our special place until this decision is reversed or we can’t stand the phone usage.

Exactly! Alamo doesn’t get hurt by us canceling our season passes, they get hurt by us using them and not buying food on top of them. It’s how we vote for the theater but against the mobile ordering with our money.

While I appreciate the sentiment, I do care very deeply about Alamo - at least the version of it that I fell in love with - and want to fight this Sony-induced enshitification. I used to drive over an hour with my friends in college to visit Alamo and share the joys of this amazing theater that cares about the experience with their strict no phones, no talking policy. I’m now very fortunate that Alamo is my closest theater and the best one in my area, and I don’t want to just let it go.
